Seeing him bite his lip, like he wanted to say more but didn’t dare, Nina laughed. “Silly, who said I like him?”

“You did, last time.”

Jensen’s gaze was steady–he remembered every word. Nina, however, had no recollection. Before she could respond, an explosive piece of news came from outside the door.

“Extra! Extra! Chase has cut ties with his family!”

“What?!”

The classroom buzzed instantly. Class A was usually dull, but any bit of gossip could set them

off.

“Is that even true? Sounds like a fake rumor.”

“Yeah… why would Chase just break away from his family for no reason?”

“I’m telling the truth! The papers said he left the Mercer house in the middle of the night with his suitcase!”

One of the students added, “Apparently, Mrs. Mercer doesn’t like Katrina; that’s why Chase left.”

“No way… Chase really is head over heels for Katrina.”

“I wish my future boyfriend would stand up to his whole family for me!”

Listening to the girls‘ dreamy voices, Nina shook her head, smiling faintly.

These were just childish fantasies.

Chase giving up the entire Mercer family for Katrina was the dumbest decision imaginable. It was like throwing away his entire future.

Being together was supposed to be about building a better life, but if they sank into blind emotion, reality would eventually tear them apart.

Jensen paused for a moment, as if he’d expected this. Then he stood and followed her out. Nina felt a sudden unease.

Dora glanced at the rest of the class. “The physics teacher will be here soon. You can start on the exercises yourselves. Nina, hand out the papers.”

She set down a thick stack of worksheets on the desk. Nina took them and glanced toward the door, curious what Jensen was doing–but she saw nothing.

Meanwhile, in the office, Jensen stepped inside and immediately noticed several men in black suits. Each had a Grey family crest pinned to their jackets.

“Mr. Grey, we’re here to take you home,” one of them said, approaching with a friendly smile.

Jensen’s tone was icy. “I’m not your Mr. Grey. You’ve got the wrong person.”

“Mr. Grey, your father’s waiting for you. Don’t make this difficult for us.”

Jensen’s gaze swept over them coolly. “I already told you, I’m not your Mr. Grey.”

He turned to leave, but the head servant stopped him. “I hear you’ve been staying at the Tann residence… You’re quite close to Ms. Tann, aren’t you?”

The moment Nina’s name came up, Jensen spun around, his eyes flashing with lethal intent. “I warn you–don’t touch Nina or anyone in the Tann family, or else…”

“Mr. Grey, just come with us. We promise we won’t lay a finger on Ms. Tann.”
