**Between Then and Now by Mark Twain**
**Chapter 11**
**Alpha King Julian’s POV**
Allow me to take a moment to introduce myself properly.
I am Julian Wexler, the Alpha King, the sovereign of all werewolves.
At the tender age of 21, I carry the weight of my title with pride. My skin is kissed by the sun, a natural tan that speaks of my heritage—a blend of my mother’s fair complexion and my father’s rich, deep hue. My eyes, a striking blue reminiscent of the vast ocean, are a feature my mother insists will be irresistible to my destined mate.
Yes, I admit it; I am still very much a Mama’s boy, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
My lineage is bi-racial—my mother being white and my father Black, a beautiful tapestry of cultures woven into my identity.
For what feels like an eternity, I have been eagerly anticipating the moment I meet my second chance mate, the one the Moon Goddess has chosen specifically for me.
My parents, the former King and Queen, always encouraged me to visit the pack of their closest friends, Alpha Dorian and Luna Camilla.
Tonight is a momentous occasion—an event that promises excitement and transformation—their triplets are turning 18 and will shift for the very first time. To add to the thrill, their daughter, Skyla, has agreed to come to the palace to assist in training our female warriors, a task that holds great importance.
The last time I laid eyes on Skyla, she was merely 16, yet even then, her beauty was undeniable, though she made every effort to conceal it.
If fate decides that she is to be my mate, I would be ecstatic beyond measure.
Her sister, Selene, however, was a different story. She had a rather forward approach, practically throwing herself at me during our last encounter. I swiftly put a stop to that; I have no interest in frivolous flings. My heart has always been reserved for my true mate.
At this moment, I find myself pacing quietly, my anticipation building as I await Alpha Dorian to announce my presence.
Within the confines of my mind, my wolf, Rig, is restless, his thoughts echoing like a chant: “Mate, Mate, Mate…Mate is here!”
“Calm down, Rig. You’re giving me a headache,” I mutter under my breath, trying to maintain my composure.
He whines in response, “I want our mate.”
I share his eagerness, but I remind him that patience is key.
Tonight will not only mark the triplets’ first transformations; Alpha Mason’s children will also experience their initial shift. His son, the future Alpha, and his daughter will join in this pivotal moment.
The transformations are set to commence at precisely 11:12 p.m. and will continue until each of them has completed their shift.
