The Rejected Luna (Avery and Kaden) novel Chapter 67

**Chapter 11**

Ryan found himself ensnared in an endless cycle of searching for Tessa, each day stretching into the next with no sign of her. It felt as if she had simply evaporated into thin air, leaving behind nothing but a haunting void.

His concern gnawed at him relentlessly, a persistent ache that invaded his thoughts both day and night. With every passing hour, he clung to the hope that perhaps, just perhaps, he would receive some sliver of news about Tessa. But what he received instead was a barrage of disappointment that crashed over him like relentless waves against a rocky shore.

In the confines of that house, he sat in a heavy silence, resolutely ignoring the persistent calls from Chloe. Each ring of his phone felt like a cruel reminder of his current reality, and a wave of disgust washed over him every time he thought of her. If it hadn’t been for Chloe, Tessa would never have felt compelled to leave him.

With a determined flick, he turned off his phone, effectively severing any connection to Chloe and the outside world. He felt like a man adrift at sea, desperately searching for something—anything—that Tessa might have left behind.

He rifled through every drawer, every nook and cranny, but found nothing. The only item that caught his eye was a tattered medical report, carelessly crumpled and discarded in the trash. As he unfolded it, his gaze fell on the notations, and a chilling realization struck him—Tessa had given six vials of blood.

His heart sank as he recalled the doctor’s words about Tessa’s low pain tolerance. The abuse she had endured at the hands of pack members during her formative years had left her fragile, making even the slightest discomfort feel unbearable.

Ryan’s fingers tightened around the report, his breath quickening as anxiety clawed at him. Memories from that fateful day replayed in his mind like a broken record. Tessa had known everything by then. She must have harbored such deep resentment towards him—enough to vanish without a trace, without even a single message to explain her departure.

He recalled the moment when he and Tessa had first acknowledged their bond as mates. He had vowed to protect her, to shield her from any harm that came her way.

Now, the weight of her pain rested squarely on his shoulders. He couldn’t shake the feeling that he had failed her in every conceivable way, and the regret gnawed at him like a relentless predator.

Meanwhile, Chloe, frustrated by the silence, called Ryan repeatedly. When her attempts went unanswered, she erupted in anger, throwing her phone to the ground in a fit of rage. “All because of Tessa? He won’t even pick up the phone for days!” she fumed, her voice echoing through the empty house.

Consumed by fury, she stormed into Tessa’s old room, still clinging to the faint hope that Tessa might return. She began hastily packing up everything that remained, shoving items into a box without regard. “Burn it! Get rid of it all!” she shouted, her voice tinged with desperation.

As the maid passed by, carrying the box, Audrey recognized it immediately. There was no need for questions; she knew it contained Tessa’s belongings.

Days turned into an agonizing stretch of time, and still, Tessa remained absent. Even Audrey, who had always maintained a detached indifference towards her, felt a creeping sense of dread settle in her heart.

She reached out, gripping the maid’s arm firmly. “Leave it there. Don’t touch it,” she instructed, her voice steady despite the turmoil inside her.

Audrey had grown weary of Chloe’s outbursts and no longer felt compelled to comfort her. Instead, her curiosity got the better of her, and she turned to the box, wondering what remnants Tessa had left behind.
