The Rejected True Heiress (Liora and Callum) novel Chapter 164

Liora’s POV

“Go away, Zane. I’m still mad at you.”

I turned away from Zane, clutching the pile of books closer to my chest, and walked further into the stacks. The library was quiet at this hour, which was exactly why I had come here. I wanted to get away from the gossip surrounding Bianca—it was just a bitter reminder of the mistake I’d made in giving those pictures to Zane—and hide for a while.

But Zane, of course, followed me. He had been following me for half the day, even though I had been trying to avoid him like the plague. The guy never seemed to give up.

“I just want to talk, Liora,” he said, sauntering after me.

“Well, I don’t.” I ran my finger across the spines of some books and selected one—the title was “The History of Witches: From Soothsayers of Historical Courts to Modern-Day Frauds”. I added that one to the growing stack in my arms and kept walking, picking up my pace this time.

Zane chuffed and jogged after me.

“Would this change your mind?” Before I could get away, Zane held something in front of my face: two pieces of paper. I frowned and took a step back, swatting his hand out of my way.

“What is that?” I snapped.

“Just take a look for yourself, would you?” Zane grinned and laid the papers on top of the books in my arms. I grit my teeth, but glanced down anyway, and froze when I saw what he had given me.

Two tickets to the Dead by Summer concert that was coming up next weekend.

“What… How did you… Why?” I blurted out.
