Their eyes locked, and Zane instantly realized what she was checking.
Was she seriously trying to see if a cheap club dancer turned him on?
If he got hard just looking at some random woman, why would he be desperately chasing after her?
Elara immediately averted her eyes, mortified.
What was she doing? Checking his arousal levels? Was her brain completely fried?
"Ms. Vance?"
Elara kept her face turned away, offering a muffled, humiliated sound in response.
"Tell her to stop."
The dancer was still throwing smoldering, hopeful looks at Zane.
Elara stubbornly refused to look at him. "Keep going. It's a nice routine."
Zane pulled out his phone. "Get down."
Seeing his expression turn icy, the girl obediently hopped off the table. "Five minutes. Fifty bucks."
Zane transferred the cash without a word.
As soon as the dancer left, Elara shot up from her seat. "We... we should head back."
Zane noted her deep discomfort. "We haven't finished our drinks."
He just wanted a few more minutes with her.
Elara didn't want to stay another second. She grabbed her glass and downed the rest of her drink in one violent gulp. Terrified he still wouldn't leave, she grabbed his glass and chugged that one too.
"Hey—" Zane tried to stop her, but he was too late.
Elara let out a small, quiet hiccup. "Can we go now?"
Defeated, Zane stood up. "Let's go."
As they stepped out of the club, the cool night air hit them. Worried the alcohol would hit Elara all at once, Zane reached out to steady her.
Startled, Elara practically jumped out of the way.
Zane glanced down at her stilettos. "Don't trip."
"I'm perfectly fine. Worry about yourself," Elara insisted, refusing his help.
