That night, Warren Whitaker pushed open his bedroom door to find his wife doing her skincare routine.
"Did you go out today?"
"Mhm, ran an errand," Elena said. "You'd better keep a close eye on Zane. I guarantee he's saying one thing and doing another."
Warren sat on the edge of the bed. "Why do you say that?"
"I went to The Regency Club today and caught him making out with some woman by the restrooms. I literally just commented on what kind of wild young man that could be, and it turned out to be our son. I was furious."
Warren kept his face neutral. "Who was he kissing?"
"I didn't get a good look. He hid her face against his chest and bolted." Elena slammed her beauty roller onto the vanity. "If it had been Nadia, would he have run? He would've been dragging her over to show off."
Warren gently rubbed his wife's back to soothe her. "Don't get worked up over it. When he gets home, I'll discipline him."
Elena pressed, "Who do you think it was? The second Vance girl? That girl's got some messy, highly publicized history with Gideon Grant. You can tell she's just not that into him. Is he blind?"
"He is far from blind. Look, stop worrying about him. I'll handle him." Warren quickly changed the subject. "So, you went to The Regency Club today?"
"Yes, for dinner."
"With Beatrice?"
"Mhm."
"And where did you go after dinner?" It was quite late for her to just be doing her skincare. She had definitely gone somewhere else.
Elena's answer was suspiciously vague. "Nowhere in particular... just did a little shopping."
Seeing her evasive gaze, Warren offered a gentle warning. "Beatrice can go wherever she pleases, but that venue belongs to our family. If someone recognizes you, or if Sebastian spots you, it wouldn't look good."
"I wore a mask! And Beatrice handled all the reservations."
Just as he thought.
Warren sighed inwardly. "Don't go next time. It's inappropriate. You shouldn't blindly follow everything she suggests."
