"I wish that were true more than you do." Zane couldn't resist lightly biting her lower lip.
Elara's hands didn't stop moving. She asked softly, "Have you always been like this?"
"No. It happened later on."
"Did your ex-wife know?"
"Yeah," Zane grunted. "So she was totally justified in cursing me out."
"Were you like this when you first got together with her?" Elara reasoned that if he had been like this from the start, he absolutely deserved the verbal abuse. A woman as fiercely independent as Jocelyn Yale would never tolerate a man who looked strong but couldn't perform.
"Not exactly," Zane admitted. "It was fine in the beginning, but midway through the marriage, things started failing. You know how it is. It was a business arrangement, no real emotional connection. So her screaming at me was pretty standard."
"Then the pills fixed the problem. But eventually, I didn't even need them because the fighting got so toxic we basically separated."
Elara looked at him softly. Even after a divorce, this man refused to say a single bad word about his ex-wife.
He truly was a good man. He treated his ex-wife well, and he treated Elara well.
No wonder Jocelyn wanted him back.
She felt a fleeting pang of pity for Jocelyn—she had met the perfect man when she was too young and angry to appreciate him.
Moved by his quiet honesty, Elara looped her other arm around Zane's neck and pulled him into a desperate kiss.
She kissed him deeply while continuing to please him beneath the water.
She helped him with the protection, then boldly straddled his lap.
She whispered against his ear, "Even without the pills, you're incredibly firm..."
Zane's breathing was erratic. "The problem isn't getting firm. The problem is stalling out halfway."
She clung to his neck, her flushed skin glistening with bathwater, radiating absolute seduction.
Her breath hitched as the pace picked up. "It's... it's okay... as long as you find your release..."
"But I want you to..."
She held him tighter, cutting off his words, and murmured the most shameless, dirty things she had ever spoken in her entire life.
Zane felt like his brain was short-circuiting. Trembling violently, he suddenly gripped her soft waist and thrust upward with staggering force.
A long, ragged groan echoed off the tiles.
Elara hadn't even come close to finishing. In that moment, she finally understood what he meant by 'That's not the issue.'
