Elara felt as if her entire world was spinning.
What was he talking about?
Remember what?
"Remember what?" she asked between breathy pants, her gaze hazy with desire.
Zane lifted his head, planting his hands on either side of her shoulders to loom over her.
"Do you really not remember a thing?"
Elara stared up at him in a daze, entirely lost as to what he was trying to say.
All she cared about was why he had suddenly stopped.
"What's taking you so long? Are you waiting for a pill to kick in?"
He chuckled softly. He hadn't taken anything, but her impatience was telling.
Elara lifted one leg slightly. "He's much more honest than you are."
Zane smiled. "I told you, I'm here to serve you tonight."
"With how slow you're moving, you'll never get any repeat customers," she retorted.
The amusement in Zane's eyes deepened. Staring down at her, he asked in a low murmur, "Then why don't you tell me exactly how the escorts at the club serve you?"
A flash of pure terror crossed Elara's eyes. She had only hired an escort from a club once in her life.
They hadn't even gone all the way.
But that escort had kissed every inch of her skin, just like this.
After the initial shock, her eyes darted through confusion, horror, and finally, stunned realization.
"You've known about what I did this whole time!"
If it hadn't been for her desperate need to retaliate against Julian Sterling that night, to burn her bridges and leave herself no way back, she never would have done something so reckless.
Elara bolted upright, shoving the man above her away as she scrambled for her silk robe.
"That's right. I'm exactly the kind of cheap, depraved woman who does things like that."
"The second my husband stepped out on me, I used it as the perfect excuse to do the same."
Elara realized bitterly that bad deeds never went unpunished.
