"Stop messing around and just go home," Elara said, her tone softening with exasperation.

"I've been drinking. I can't drive."

"Then how did you get here?"

"I told my driver to go home."

Elara stared at her phone in disbelief.

"Can I just sneak in for a bit?"

Vivian wasn't home tonight. If he slipped in through the side gate...

Elara immediately hit the brakes on her own thoughts. What was she doing?

Was she really considering letting him march into her family home and sleep in her bed?

"Stay in the car. I'm coming out."

Zane hung up the phone, his eyes locked on the dark path leading from the estate.

When he saw Elara emerge, carrying her handbag, a triumphant grin spread across his face.

Elara walked straight to the driver's side and pulled the door open. "If you're drunk, you should have gone straight home. Why are you out here causing trouble?"

"Because I missed you."

Those three words completely dissolved whatever lecture she had prepared.

Elara slid into the driver's seat and started the engine.

Zane glanced at her handbag resting on the passenger seat, unable to suppress his smile.

She drove them straight to the underground garage of The Sovereign. As they stepped into the elevator, she slipped an arm around him to keep him steady. "Do you feel sick? Who were you drinking with? How much did you have?"

"Gideon and a few other guys," Zane answered honestly. "It was actually Vivian who got me this drunk."

"Vivian was there? Wasn't she at a school reunion tonight?"

"Yeah. She crashed our room halfway through and started throwing back shots."

"Is she okay? Did she drink too much?" Elara asked, instantly anxious.

"She's fine. Gideon chased after her to take her home."

Elara finally let out a sigh of relief.
