Elara Vance said she had to return to the company to prepare some documents, so Zane Whitaker quickly got down to business.
"The capital injection contract is about to be signed. I had a headhunting firm find a Vice President, and I'll send him over to you when the time comes."
Elara understood the protocol. With so much money coming in, once the contract was signed, his team would gradually take over all the crucial positions.
"Alright, just send him over when you're ready."
Zane immediately grasped her hand. "Elara, what are your plans?"
Elara replied, "I'll take my sister back to the headquarters to help my father."
Zane refused to let go of her hand, his expression entirely serious. "Don't leave. Keep leading Vance Properties."
Elara knew Zane was a good man, but this wasn't just about him. He had the entire Whitaker Group to answer to. "I want to help my father. He's getting older, and it's time my sister and I shared the burden."
Zane wasn't having it. "I'll handle things on the Whitaker Group's end. Don't make those kinds of plans."
"We'll see," Elara deflected.
"This Vice President is highly capable. He's flying in from out of town in the next couple of days. Once I meet him and we hash out the terms, we should all grab dinner together so you can get acquainted."
Since this man's role was tied to the future of Vance Properties, Elara nodded in agreement.
"Which company did you poach him from?"
"A couple of years ago, a massive fundraising scandal erupted in Eastford, shaking up the political circles. The main culprit was sentenced, and this Mr. Pierce was the mastermind pulling the strings behind the scenes," Zane explained. "He hasn't worked for any major corporation over the last two years, just doing some small-scale independent investments. I put the headhunters on his trail right after the holidays, and they just got back to me."
Elara thought about it for a moment before voicing her concern. "Is a man like that willing to work under someone else?"
"Let's just get through the hurdles of the next two years first. We can worry about the rest later," Zane said.
Elara nodded.

Springtime in the north was bright and beautiful.
It was the season of joy and rebirth.
