Elara's heart jumped into her throat. What did he want?
But then she immediately found the thought laughable. She really thought too highly of herself.
A gorgeous, wealthy, highly successful bachelor like Zane Whitaker wouldn't be desperate to sleep with a married woman.
She was being completely delusional.
With no time to put her bra back on, she quickly checked the fabric of the T-shirt to make sure it wasn't see-through, tugging the hem down so it barely covered her upper thighs.
She opened the door.
"Mr. Whitaker?"
He hadn't seen her in a white T-shirt in years.
The last time was probably over a decade ago, back when she was still in college.
Her soft hair was twisted into a messy bun at the nape of her neck, with a few stray strands falling around her temples. Her clean, makeup-free face was just as breathtakingly beautiful as he remembered.
Zane forced down the shock in his eyes. "I just need to borrow the slippers."
"Oh... right," she replied.
She had guessed correctly.
He was a perfect gentleman, just here for the shoes.
In an apartment this huge, couldn't he afford a second pair of slippers?
It really proved that no woman lived here, nor did any other man.
And certainly not his ex-wife.
Elara bent over to slip off the oversized sandals, her bare feet stepping onto the cool floor.
Zane's eyes darkened instantly.
He was well over six feet, broad-shouldered and imposing. She wasn't exactly petite, but her frame was delicate and graceful.
His shirt engulfed her entirely. When she leaned over, the gaping collar offered him an unobstructed view.
She wasn't wearing anything underneath.
Full.
A soft, rosy flush.
His mind violently flashed back to that night at the club.
He knew exactly what she felt like.
