Chapter 42: Shopping Spree
Deidra’s P.O.V.

After an intense staring competition that I won, by the way – Brixton demanded I get dressed
–
again. This time, he left the bedroom and I did what he wanted. I threw on a pair of tight dark jeans and the se.xiest shirt I brought. Or own, for that matter. It’s skin–tight, love sleeved, and has a very deep neckline. It was what I thought was elegant–se.xy. Emma agreed. This was actually the outfit we picked the first night I went over there for dinner, but went with the dress instead.
I went to the bathroom to wash my face and tame my hair. I dried my face and looked at my
reflection. For a moment, I wondered if it was best to just put my hair up in a clip. Then I noticed
the dark spots across my neck and my eyes went wide.
“Brixton! You fu.cking a.ssface!” I screamed as I dropped the towel and really saw the damage he
did to my neck.
A moment later, Brix was in the doorway of the bathroom, looking at me with wide frantic eyes.
“What?? What’d I do?” He rushed out.
I narrowed my eyes at him. He looked at my hand that was on my chest and then the hickeys on my neck. A smirk formed on his lips as his shoulders sagged.
“Oh, I knew you’d be pi.ssed about that,” he said causally.
“Yet you did it anyway,” I stated, annoyed.
“I like marking what’s mine,” he commented.
“Well, could you do it in a spot easier to cover up next time!?” I snapped as I looked back in the mirror.
I’m going to have to wear my hair down. It still won’t hide anything, but it’ll be better than broadcasting them. Or should I do that? Would it keep women away?
Ya know, what? f***k it. I’m doing it.
“Tiger Lily,” Brix chuckled darkly. I paused but didn’t look at him. I didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of seeing what that deep chuckle did to me. “It’s fu.cking se.xy when you talk to me like that. Keep it up.”
Then he smacked my a.ss before disappearing down the hall and leaving me feeling like I’d just walked into the twilight zone. When did we end up this comfortable together? How did this happen so fast? Is it because we already knew each other?

Whatever. I pushed the questions to the back of my mind for now. I was going to get answers eventually. Right now, I need to stay on my guard. Because I still don’t trust that Brixton has actual
feelings for me. I still suspect this is all for Waylen, and I can’t afford to get my heart broken in the
process. I can’t afford to make a fool out of myself for a second time in the town I live in. It’s hard
enough being the town orphan. It’s going to be even harder when I get back and word has spread far and wide about Theo and Sophie.
I can’t add falling for a biker to my list too.
“Daisy, you are doing way too much for my family,” Brixton said for the thousandth time.
“Nonsense,” I said as I took stacks of boxes from his arms to put in the backseat of the car. “Let’s
go to the next store.”
“The next store??” He asked incredulously. “Snowdrop, you’ve gotten enough.”
“Shut up,” I said, narrowing my eyes at him. “I’m spoiling your entire family. I can. I want to. Plus,
they made me feel like family. All of them. I want to do what I can to return the favor.”
“Okay, but I saw you eyeing that kitchen set,” he replied. “You are not buying my mom an entire
kitchen set.”
“I will if I want to,” I stated, heading toward the store to do just that.
“Gardenia,” he groaned. “It’s $500, and she already has pots and pans and knives.”
“Yeah, but this is all matching and brand new, and I wasn’t going to get her the $500 set,” I said and Brix blew out a breath. “I was going to get her the $700 set that has fewer pans, but the ones in it
are cast–iron. Every good home cook loves cast–iron.”
“Babe, you’re killing me,” he said, giving me a pleading look.
“I’m doing it,” I said as I opened the door to the door giving him a smug look as I walked in.
“Let me go in on it with you at least,” he begged.
“What did you get her?” I asked.
“Waylen and I bought her a bunch of random sh.it,” he replied. “You’re going to make us look like fools with this gift.”
“Oh, Brix,” I said in a sarcastically sweet voice. “You already look like a fool.”
He gave me a flat look as I laughed at him.
“I mean it, Deidra, please, this is too much,” he said. That’s a lot of money. Is Garden Sip really doing that well?” I shot him a mean look. He missed it though, since he was already cursing
himself and looking down at his feet. “I didn’t mean it like that, Wisteria,” he said, looking at me

again. “The place is amazing, and I’m sure it’s doing well. But you just opened.”
Clam
“Relax,” I said, rolling my eyes at him. “I have money from when my parents died. I only ever spent it on college and Garden Sip. Never had a reason to spend it before. Now I do. So please just let me.
I’ll even put your and Waylen’s names on it.”
Brixton stared at me for a moment. Eventually he sighed heavily and I knew I’d won.
“Fine, but how about the smaller set? Please?” He asked. “Compromise.”
“Okay, okay,” I gave in.
So, we got a slightly smaller set that was still pricey Brix wasn’t that happy about it, but I was thrilled. We also got a set of really nice wooden cutting boards for Birdie, along with several other things. Adam got an entire tool set that Brixton said was too much. I guess they were very good
quality, but he did say I was getting a good deal for them. And for his father, Cobra, I got a new
helmet and some really nice riding pants.
By the time Brixton thought I was finally done… I dragged him to one more shop. It was a
bakery/café place. I wanted a snack. It was also getting to be that time for us to go back, and I
wanted to bring something for dessert. Brixton wasn’t thrilled. He said I spent too much money
already. I ignored him and did what I wanted anyway.
“Since we have a little wait before the cupcakes get done, I’m going to go to the bathroom,” Brixton
said.
“Okay,” I replied, smiling at him. “I’ll wait right here.”
I leaned my back against the wall across from the bathroom. Brix smiled at me and kissed my
forehead before disappearing down the short hallway. I waited until he was in the men’s restroom
before looking away.
At first, I just stared at my hands as a smile broke out on my face. I couldn’t help it. Today has been
everything and more. Brixton has been so great. Even though he’s upset about how much I’ve
spent on his family. He’s been so awesome about all this shopping. He takes my bags without me
asking, follows me around when I get too excited and distracted, and he hasn’t complained once.
Not about the actual shopping, just how much I spent. And the way he keeps looking at me…
I’ve never wanted to drop to my knees for a man so badly in my life. Or at all. I mean, I did it with Theo, but it wasn’t something I was eager to do. Not at first anyway. I did it because that’s what you do for foreplay, I guess. Plus, I was curious. It wasn’t until Theo praised me one time that I felt
more confident. Then I started to like doing it.
Never have I felt this needy about it though. I only did it for Theo when we were about to have se.x.
I want to do it for Brixton for all the reasons and none at all. I want to give him a treat. I want to see
his d***k. I want to see the look in his eyes when I give him pleasure like he’d given me.

What the heck has come over me? I never used to be this needy or confident. I even made that
deal with Brixton. What if I end up being bad at it? What if Theo lied, and I turned out to be a
let–down? Not to mention all the women Brix has probably gotten head from…
“Hey, why the long face?”
I looked up out of reflex. I didn’t expect that question to be aimed at me, but it apparently was. Standing in front of me were two guys I’d never seen before. They looked about my age, maybe a little younger. They were tall and buff, creating a wall between me and the bathroom. I frowned at
them, confused and a little annoyed.
“You should smile more,” the other one said. “I bet you look adorable smiling.”
My frown grew as I looked between the two of them. The one that just spoke checked me out, very obviously. In that kind of arrogant way too. Like I should be grateful for the attention. The other guy’s eyes flickered towards my neck. I did wear my hair up, exposing all the marks Brix left on me. The heat in his eyes told me he loved that I was wearing them proudly. This guy is looking at them like having them automatically makes me easy.
“You look lonely, maybe my friend and I could keep you company,” the guy who first spoke said.
“No, thanks,” I replied tightly. “I’m actually waiting for my ol-”
“Come on baby, we don’t care if you bring some friends along,” the second guy cut me off, stepping closer and making me plaster myself to the wall behind me. “I bet you’d have a lot of fun with us, baby doll.”
“Ugh, disgusting,” I mumbled, rolling my eyes.
“What was that?” The other said, stepping closer now too. He even reached out and grabbed my wrist. I tried to pull it back, but he wasn’t having that. “You want to get nasty, baby?” He asked, laughing like this was some joke.
“Take your goddamn hands off of me, now,” I snarled at them.
“A pretty little thing like you?” The other replied, checking me out again. “No way in hell. We gotta convince you to come with us.”
“I’m going to kick your a.sses if you don’t back the ***k up,” I said, seething now. “And my ol‘ man will make you wish you would have listened to me.”
“Ol‘ man? Like your father?” he laughed.
“Nah, not her father,” came another voice, growling and sending shivers down my spine. “Her fu.cking husband.”
