Chapter 11
Chapter 11
Alec’s face turns livid. He cracks his knuckles, looking ready to slap Tara.
“Tara! Watch your mouth! Don’t think you can be this arrogant just because someone is backing you!” he roars through gritted teeth.
Tara scoffs, shooting him a contemptuous look. “What? Are you throwing a tantrum because you are embarrassed? Is this how the Dennis family raises their children?”
As Alec rendered speechless, Jade’s eyes immediately well up with tears. She tugs at his sleeve, looking thoroughly wronged. “Alec, forget it. Let’s just go. Tara might just be… in a bad mood.”
He glares viciously at Tara. “Jade, ignore her! She’s an ungrateful wretch. Our family raised her for so many years, and not only is she ungrateful, but she’s also biting the hand that feeds her!”
Jade looks at Tara, hesitating before speaking. “Tara, are you really being kept by someone? Is that how
you have money? How could you do something so indecent? Mom and Dad would be so disappointed if they knew!”
Standing to the side, Assistant Grace is furious and is about to retort, but Tara stops her.
Tara fixes Jade with a gaze as sharp as a knife. “Jade, you really just say whatever comes to your mind, don’t you? Hurry up and go tell them. Oh, and by the way, if you’re jealous, I can introduce you to someone too.”
Jade trembles with rage. “You… you’re utterly shameless!”
Too lazy to waste another breath on them, Tara swipes her card, signs the receipt, and speaks directly to the sales associate. “Please wrap these up and send them to this address.”
She efficiently writes down Danny’s villa address, turns around, and meets their gazes with icy indifference. “The next time you see me, you better stay far away. Stop sputtering bullshit, or I won’t hold back.”
With that, she leaves flawlessly with Grace. Grace can barely resist giving Tara a thumbs up. What a
boss!
Jade’s face instantly drains of color. As the cherished daughter of the Dennis family, she has never suffered such humiliation. This is outrageous! She has to let her parents know about this as soon as she gets home. Tara can forget about ever returning to the Dennis family. From now on, Jade will be the only daughter.
Thinking of this, Jade feigns weakness and leans against Alec’s shoulder, her voice choking with sobs. “Alec, how did Tara become like this? Does she hate me that much? If so, maybe I should leave the family, even though I’d miss you all terribly…”
Alec wraps a protective arm around her. “Jade, don’t be sad. She’s just an ungrateful piece of trash! Come on, let’s go home and tell Mom and Dad. She’s stooped so low as to become someone’s sugar baby. Our family doesn’t have such a disgraceful thing.”
With her head lowered, a triumphant smile curls the corners of Jade’s lips. After the two leave, Tara finishes her shopping.
