The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 131

"Tara, what exactly did you feed Grandma? Unregulated garbage? Are you trying to kill her? What is your agenda here?" Alec is the first to attack. As the most impulsive and hot-tempered of the three brothers, he doesn't hold back. The others harbor the same dark suspicions but hesitate to voice them—after all, attempting to murder the family matriarch is a horrifying accusation.

His words immediately spark Aunt Kellen's fury. "Alec, do you have any idea what you're saying? Tara would never hurt Grandma, let alone try to kill her. Are you out of your mind?" She can't imagine how heartbroken Tara must feel. Deprived of her family's love, she now has to endure this vile slander.

Deanna initially shares Alec's suspicions, but Kellen's outburst forces her to reign in her temper. "Tara, even if you didn't mean any harm, you can't just feed her random, off-market pills. This is a matter of life and death!" She figures Tara might not do this on purpose. She’s just incredibly stupid—easily scammed by shady salesmen. Compared to her, Jade is so much more rational and brilliant. At least she wouldn't fall for some back-alley quack.

"I will only say this once," Tara replies coolly. "The medicine I provide is certified by The Bureau of Medical Standards. It is not unregulated garbage. It has official anti-counterfeit and tracking codes. Furthermore, it's a newly developed drug from the national research institute—barely on the market, with zero side effects. People are practically clawing each other's eyes out trying to get their hands on it." Only these shortsighted fools would look at a miracle cure and call it trash.

Alec scoffs, his face a mask of disbelief. "You make it sound so grand, yet that bottle doesn't even have a proper label. It's just some dingy old jar, and you have the nerve to brag about it."

"Alec, please don't speak to her like that." Jade furrows her brow in a picture-perfect display of distress, her voice as gentle as a spring breeze. "She's just trying to show her devotion. She was probably tricked. You know Grandma dotes on her the most—she'd never intentionally hurt her. Let's just forgive her this once." On the surface, she plays the sweet, pleading sister. Inside, she is thrilled, her lips twitching with a suppressed smirk. She's been waiting for an opportunity to put this bitch in her place.
