Because of that, he is taking the competition incredibly seriously.
"But..." Jade's eyes well up with fresh tears. She pouts her lips, looking thoroughly wronged and desperate. "I know I can handle both! I want to follow in Tara's footsteps. I want to show you, Jake, and Mom and Dad that whatever she can do, I can do better."
She had taken her friend's advice at the restaurant completely to heart. No matter what it takes, she is going to secure a massive IP idol drama and force it to air at the exact same time as Tara's pathetic little movie. She wants to crush that woman in every single metric and wipe that arrogant smirk off her face.
Seeing his sister so remarkably determined catches Alec off guard. Usually, Jade is soft-spoken and always yields to Tara. It is rare for her to be this fiercely passionate about something.
He doesn't know how to say no, and frankly, he doesn't have the heart to.
Just then, Jake walks through the front door. Alec immediately turns to his older brother.
"Jake, Tara ran off to film some garbage movie, and on top of that..."
He quickly relays the entire fabricated story of Tara's bullying at the restaurant, followed by Jade's sudden desire to star in her own project.
"Tara is getting completely out of hand. So arrogant, so blind to her place. She's obviously doing this just to try and prove she doesn't need us," Jake sneers, unbuttoning his suit jacket.
"If Jade wants to shoot a show, then she gets a show. As it happens, Director Lucas was at my dinner meeting tonight. He's gearing up to shoot a massive drama, and he hasn't locked in his female lead yet."
Jake's intention is crystal clear. "I'll make a call right now and tell him the role belongs to Jade."
The second the words leave his mouth, Jade's tears vanish, replaced by a radiant, blooming smile.
