"I know you're the principal dancer for the national ballet," Tara adds smoothly, stepping in to close the deal. She is always amazed by Tricia's ability to scout elite talent in the middle of a crisis. "We would never interfere with your primary career. But when you have downtime, we have several high-profile commercial projects that would be perfect for you."
Even a temporary contract with a star of Lucinda's caliber would give their new agency a massive credibility boost.
"I love that idea," Lucinda agrees without hesitation. "Let's set up a meeting to go over the contract details when we're all free."
The quick agreement instantly bonds the group. They move to the lounge area, grabbing drinks and chatting as if they have been friends for years.
Before today, Lucinda had only heard the malicious high-society gossip about Tara and wasn't sure what to believe. But sitting here, she realizes Tara is brilliantly sharp, respectful, and fully supportive of her artists. All those vicious rumors spread by the Dennis family are complete garbage. Add in the fact that Tara literally just saved her life, and Lucinda finds herself deeply respecting her.
While the girls enjoy their drinks in high spirits, Jake is dealing with an absolute nightmare.
Jade plays the selfless victim flawlessly, practically begging him to leave while happily soaking up his undivided attention and comfort. In one calculated move, she uses Tara as a meat shield, pinning her own attempted murder entirely on her older sister.
Since there is no camera footage, it all comes down to who Jake trusts more. And given the absolute warfare currently raging between Tara and the Dennis brothers, Tara is the easiest target.
As expected, Jake's expression shifts. At the mere mention of Tara's name, his gaze turns somber, a dark, suffocating wave of anger settling over his features.
