Jade does indeed carry a signal jammer. Her initial plan was to use it to get rid of Lucinda permanently, ensuring the woman could no longer cling to Jake. That was one of her primary goals for tonight's birthday gala. If anything went wrong, she knew her mother, Deanna, would clean up the mess. That safety net makes her fearless. She has absolute faith in Deanna's capabilities.
Unfortunately, Tara had to ruin everything. A suffocating wave of hatred washes over Jade. Now that the situation has escalated, she regrets not recording a video of Tara assaulting those men. Hard evidence would have prevented this entire headache. But she couldn’t speak up now, terrified that Tara might turn her attention toward her. If that bitch demands a search, the jammer will be found, and Jade will have no way to explain herself.
"Did none of you see Tara and Tricia strike anyone?" Officer Murphy asks, scanning the remaining guests. "You need to tell the truth. Shielding a suspect is a crime."
"No, we didn't see anything," one guest murmurs.
"We just saw these three guys walk over looking absolutely pulverized," another chimes in.
"Exactly. We really didn't see them lift a finger," Lucinda adds smoothly. As a highly respected socialite known for her impeccable manners and grace, her word carries immense weight. Her earnest expression immediately casts doubt on the three men, making everyone suspect they simply got into a brawl elsewhere and are now trying to extort money.
Lana and Deanna exchange uncertain glances. The idea of three grown men being beaten to a pulp by two slender women does sound utterly ridiculous. Besides, Danny and his high-profile business partners are standing right there. Men of their stature wouldn't lie to the police, would they?
