Staying holed up in the VIP lounge for too long would inevitably spark gossip among the guests. Alec is the first to step out into the hallway, only to freeze dead in his tracks. Standing right in front of him is the one person he has no idea how to face: his biological sister, Tara.
"Well, isn't this a cozy little family reunion," Tara drawls, breaking the silence with a mocking smirk.
Seeing her standing there, Evan's body goes completely rigid. His first instinct is to hide, a wave of panic washing over him like a cheating husband caught red-handed. The suffocating weight of his betrayal hits him so hard that he subconsciously takes two large steps away from Jade.
"What are you doing here?" Alec demands, his brow furrowing defensively.
"What, do you own the place? Am I not allowed to be here?" Tara fires back without missing a beat.
Emboldened by her challenge, Alec puffs out his chest. "Actually, yes. This is the Dennis family's yacht. I can go wherever the hell I want."
Tara lets out a cold laugh. "It belongs to the Dennis family, not you personally. Understand the difference?"
"Exactly. We were just having a lovely chat with Evan and Lana. After all, our two families will be celebrating some very good news soon!" Jade chimes in, refusing to be overshadowed.
She aggressively loops her arm through Evan's again, flashing a sickeningly sweet smile. She tilts her chin up, shooting Tara a triumphant look that practically screams, “Your man belongs to me now.”
Jade noticed how Evan panicked and stepped away the second Tara appeared. The insecurity gnaws at her, pushing her to mark her territory. She hadn't planned on flaunting the engagement this early, but she simply can't help herself. She wants Tara to know exactly who won.
