"Lana, how can you say that? This is a win-win for both of us," Jade replies smoothly, not missing a beat.
Dealing with someone as easily swayed as Lana takes zero effort. Jade doesn't even have to think about her manipulation tactics; the lies pour out effortlessly.
"My mother has already promised me company shares and a massive wedding. You see how much my family adores me. Tara could never offer you that kind of backing," Jade purrs. "Tara is volatile and impossible to control. If she married Evan, she'd turn your household upside down. But I'm different. Not only do I have the right connections, but I also know how to navigate high-society politics. I can actually elevate Evan's career, and I'd be your perfect ally. Isn't that what you want?"
Jade has done her homework. She knows Evan isn't the sole heir to the Jewell family empire, which is exactly why Lana is so desperate. Lana originally wanted Tara's 30% stake in the Dennis Group to secure Evan's succession. By playing directly into Lana's anxieties, Jade easily controls the narrative.
"You... actually have a point," Lana concedes, her anger deflating.
Tara is a nightmare to deal with, and now she is tangled up with Danny Calhoun. If Evan got caught in the crossfire between Tara and the Calhoun empire, it would spell disaster for the Jewell family. Weighing the risks, Lana realizes Jade is the safer, more profitable bet.
"As long as you play the part of a good, supportive wife to Evan, I'll treat you like my own daughter," Lana says, officially giving Jade her blessing.
