Chapter 31
“Wow!” Ana’s eyes widen with sheer admiration. “You even know how to
do this?”
“Seriously, Tara, is there anything you don’t know how to do?” Tina teases with a grin.
“It’s not that hard,” Tara replies casually, her hands moving with practiced precision. “I’ve been through much worse.”
Standing a few feet away, Jade watches Tara scale and gut the live fish with a look of absolute horror. “Killing it? While it’s alive? That’s so cruel! How can you even stomach doing that?”
Tara can’t help but roll her eyes. She turns to face Jade, her tone dripping with sarcasm. “Drop the act. The bag you carried on the first day of filming was made of crocodile skin, wasn’t it? And what about that real fur coat you wore? Did you cry about cruelty then?”
Jade glares at Tara, her face flushing crimson. “M-my bag is faux leather! It’s not real.”
Despite her defensive tone, Jade’s eyes dart nervously away from the camera. Panic sets in as she realizes her mistake. She immediately regrets opening her mouth.
Tara offers a knowing, predatory smile. “Oh, really? Because I distinctly remember that bag being from a top-tier luxury brand. Their official campaigns brag about using only authentic, premium leather. So, if yours is faux, did you buy a knockoff? Or is the brand lying to the public? Come to think of it, aren’t you their global spokesperson?”
Jade’s breath hitches. She is trapped in a PR nightmare of her own making. As the face of the brand, she absolutely has to defend their reputation. The bag is undoubtedly genuine leather, but to save face a moment ago, she claimed it was fake. If she doesn’t backpedal
immediately, she risks losing her lucrative endorsement deals and facing

a massive breach-of-contract lawsuit.
“O-of course the official statements are true!” Jade stammers hastily, her voice tight with panic. “I just misspoke! Anyway, aren’t we supposed to be selling fish?” She desperately pivots the conversation, terrified her
carefully crafted persona is unraveling on live television.
The live chat instantly explodes:
Jade really dug her own grave with that one.]
LMAO. Crocodile skin isn’t cruel, but a dinner fish is? What a hypocrite!]
She already corrected herself! Why are you guys bullying her? Baby Jade, please don’t do reality shows anymore. It’s too stressful!]
Someone tag the luxury brand! Their own spokesperson just admitted on ive TV that they sell fakes!]
Tara’s logic is unmatched. Absolutely shredded that fake innocent act.]
The atmosphere at the fish stall grows thick with tension. Behind the monitors, the production crew wrings their hands in excitement. The drama is absolute gold for the ratings.
‘Alright, let’s focus on prepping the fish! We have to open for the lunch ‘ush soon,” the director announces through the loudspeaker, stepping in to keep the show moving.
Tara gives a dismissive scoff and goes back to fileting. The camera zooms in on her swift, elegant knife work, sending the chat into another frenzy over how cool she looks.
