The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 315

Having been pampered and placed on a pedestal for years, Jade is entirely accustomed to the men in her family catering to her every whim. Seeing Jake suddenly resort to physical violence and hurl such venomous words at her sends her into a full-blown panic. She wants to explain herself, but his icy, unapproachable demeanor keeps her paralyzed. She has never seen this terrifying side of him, and the fear of losing her grip on his mind consumes her.

She refuses to let him slip out of her control.

Just as the tension reaches its breaking point, the door to the VIP ward swings open.

"Jade! Oh, my sweet girl, how are you? What did the doctor say?"

"Why would you do something so reckless? If you wanted revenge, we could have found another way!"

"Are you in pain? Did they run a full-body scan?"

Deanna, Nikolai, and Alec flood into the room, bombarding her with frantic questions. Deanna hurriedly sets a thermos of homemade nutritional soup on the nightstand before rushing to inspect her daughter from head to toe, terrified she might be missing a limb.

"How can you speak about Jade like that?" Nikolai fires back. "Yes, she made a reckless mistake, but you hold some responsibility here. We trusted you to protect her. If we knew you'd fail, I would have sent Alec instead."

As the only brother who hasn't been severely burned by Jade's schemes yet, Nikolai genuinely believes this is all Jake's fault.

Jake shoots him a glacial glare. This idiot is so quick to play the righteous defender now.
