The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 333

Growing up, Alec was always considered the slow one among the four siblings, struggling the most with school. But he still made it into a top university and studied abroad to become an elite stylist. He refuses to accept the title of the stupid sibling.

"Look, I know you want Lucinda back, but she clearly wants nothing to do with you," Alec retorts. "You should just give up. There are plenty of fish in the sea."

"Yeah, plenty of fish," Jake shoots back. "Which means you should give up on Tricia. Don't go crawling back to your ex."

Jake pulls a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, expertly sliding one out and lighting it. He takes a deep drag, exhaling a plume of smoke as the tension bleeds from his shoulders. Leaning back against a nearby chair, he lets the nicotine work its magic. Watching his brother act like a complete fool actually makes his own misery a little more bearable.

"That's different. Tricia and I have a different situation," Alec mutters defensively.

"How is it different?" Jake asks, knowing full well it was Jade's meddling that ruined Alec's relationship. He knows the truth now, but he has no intention of spelling it out for his brother.

"You wouldn't understand. Just drop it," Alec groans, rubbing his temples.

He has gone to Tara's agency several times to look for Tricia, but the cruel woman refuses to see him. When he does manage to corner her, she treats him like a stranger, throwing sharp insults his way. Tricia used to be so gentle and endlessly accommodating. Alec firmly believes Tara corrupted her. So what if she's his biological sister? Alec thinks angrily. Why should he care about someone so rude?

"Weren't you going to chase after Jade?" Jake asks impatiently. "Are you going or not?"

"Oh, right! I totally forgot!" Alec jumps up and sprints toward the exit.
