The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 334

"Takes one to know one. Stop calling her that, it's disgusting," Jake retorts. "I can drop her whenever I want. But you? You're a mommy's boy. Do you honestly have the spine to defy your mother and walk away?"

The alcohol hits Evan's bloodstream, amplifying his rage. He slams his glass onto the table and stands up. "Mommy's boy? You're the damn mommy's boy! We are done. That business deal we were discussing? Canceled. I'm pulling my investment!"

Without another word, Evan storms out of the venue. He would rather go home and sleep than waste time and money drinking with this miserable bastard.

"Whatever," Jake groans, tipping his head back to finish his drink. He only approached Evan for a partnership to prove his worth to the company's shareholders. Now the deal is dead. He curses himself for agreeing to his mother's request to take Jade out tonight. That manipulative woman ruins everything.

Meanwhile, Danny sits comfortably in the passenger seat of his own limited-edition supercar, watching the woman behind the wheel.

"Thanks for the ride, Tara," Danny says, a rare sense of contentment washing over him.

Sitting beside her, Danny watches the subtle, thrilled smile on her lips. He knew she would appreciate the vehicle. He deliberately manufactured this situation to spend time with her and let her enjoy the ride, knowing she would decline if he simply offered her the keys.

As he considers buying her a similar car as a gift, his gaze shifts to the side mirror.

"So," Danny says casually, his tone shifting. "How long is that car behind us going to follow us?"
