Deanna isn't thrilled with Tara either. In fact, she wants nothing more than to slap some sense into her rebellious daughter. But at the end of the day, Tara is her own flesh and blood. Deanna can scold her, but she refuses to sit back and listen to her sons trash her—especially not with JAde chiming in. For an adopted child to openly criticize the rightful heiress of the Dennis family crosses a massive line.
Deanna admits she has favored Jade over the years, but Jade's recent scandals have caused the family enough headaches. Hearing her subtly stoke the brothers' resentment against their sister leaves a bitter taste in Deanna’s mouth.
Charles and Jake are riding in a separate car back to the company. If they were here listening to this gossip, Deanna shudders to think how they would react.
"Mom is right," Jade says smoothly, instantly reading the room. "Nikolai, Alec, you shouldn't speak about our sister that way. We're a family. No matter how much she acts out, we have to repair the relationship. We have to beg her to come back, no matter what it takes."
Jade knows exactly how to play her part. By intentionally using the word 'beg,' she expertly twists the knife, making Nikolai and Alec even more disgusted.
"Tch. She doesn't even apologize to me, and I'm supposed to grovel to her? The ego on that girl," Nikolai scoffs.
Alec rolls his eyes. "Let's just ice her out. When she eventually needs the Dennis family's money, she'll come crawling back."
Nathaniel isn't just a shareholder; he wields real influence in the company. He is one of the few who still genuinely works for the family's best interests.
Tara smirks. "It seems Jake’s grooming as the future heir hasn't yielded any real results."
She already knows Jake is utterly incapable of controlling the board or handling sudden crises. Honestly, even Charles is losing his grip on the massive empire. When Cian was alive, he held the declining company together. Since her grandfather's passing, the downward trend has turned into a freefall. The entire corporate world is secretly laughing at the Dennis Group, waiting for their inevitable collapse.
