Jake trails after his father, entirely bewildered by the turn of events. He thought Charles hated the idea of Tara returning, especially since he used to let Jade lead him by the nose just like Deanna does. What changed?
"Dad, are you really letting Tara come back?" Jake demands, following Charles straight into the CEO's office.
"Did I have a choice? Isn't this exactly what the board and the shareholders wanted?" Charles arches an eyebrow as he settles behind his desk.
Oh, Jake thinks. So Dad hasn't suddenly seen the light. The shareholders forced his hand. Still, he wonders what Tara can even do at the Dennis Group. She knows nothing about their core projects. The most they can offer her is a meaningless title and a corner office where she can pretend to be a shareholder.
Ever since Jake saw through Jade's manipulative facade, he suddenly realized just how incredible his biological sister is. It isn't that he doesn't want to make amends with Tara; she just wants absolutely nothing to do with him, and his pride won't let him beg. Deep down, he holds onto a shred of hope. Once Jade's true colors are exposed to the world, Tara will surely forgive him and come back. Unfortunately, it seems only his two idiot brothers and their oblivious parents still believe Jade is some sweet, caring angel.
"Well, you don't need to worry about Tara. The moment she returns, people will be clamoring to welcome and support her," Charles says smoothly. He pauses, his tone shifting. "Jade is the real issue. Her career in the entertainment industry is dead in the water. She has no choice but to join the Dennis Group."
"What? After she ruined her reputation and made herself public enemy number one?" Jake stares at his father in sheer disbelief. "You actually want to bring her here?" He realizes Charles might be just as brainwashed as the rest of the family.
