The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 363

Nathaniel might have zero interest in Jade's background, but Tara knows the score all too well. It is obvious that Jade's biological mother pulled a lot of strings to secure her daughter a spot in the Dennis Group's core department. Tara strongly suspects that the woman isn't just loosely connected to the Alchemist Foundation—she might be a full-fledged member.

"Whatever happens, we'll just wait and see," Tara says, pulling her thoughts back to the present. There is no use in endless speculation. The truth and their ultimate motives will surface eventually.

For now, she focuses on the immediate crisis at the medicinal fields. Even if she doubts Jade's actual competence, the people behind her are dangerously capable. If Jade truly has a way to save the crops, it benefits the company and saves Tara the trouble of intervening. Plus, Tara wants to see exactly what her biological mother is capable of. She also keeps her guard against the Alchemist Foundation, knowing a much darker conspiracy could be brewing in the shadows.

The more they move, the more mistakes they will make. Tara's only fear is their inaction; as long as they make a move, she is confident she can strip away that woman's secrets in no time.

"By the way, what is the deal with Charles and Jake?" Tara asks, recalling her grand entrance. "Sending all those people to 'welcome' me—are they trying to plant moles?" It is hard to believe the father and son suddenly care about her well-being. They have to be plotting something.

"I found that strange too," Nathaniel admits, looking genuinely puzzled. "The staff they sent are definite sycophants, but they aren't inner-circle loyalists."
