The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 372

Is she in their crosshairs because of him, or has she been a target all along? Either way, the reality of the situation fills Danny with a suffocating wave of frustration.

"Boss, are those guys making a move again? Did Miss Dennis get dragged into this mess because of you?"

Luke, who has been standing quietly beside him, knows a significant amount of the inside story. As Danny's closest friend and most trusted confidant, he drops his usual playboy act whenever things get serious.

"I don't know."

"Are we going to strike back? Your uncle is getting a little out of hand lately."

"We hold our position for now."

Danny is already well aware of Garrison's ties to that faction. He just never expected the people backing the Dennis family's adopted daughter to be so deeply entwined with his uncle. They are clearly allies. If Tara weren't involved, he wouldn't care what they did, but now... he has a weakness.

Danny knows his mission and the task he has yet to finish. He used to only suspect that Garrison had a hand in his father's disappearance, driven by a thirst for power. But now, it is obvious this goes far beyond internal family politics. He needs to find out if his father is being held captive by those people and exactly how deeply Garrison is involved. More importantly, he needs to understand why they are coming after him and what genetic secrets they hope to extract.

And then there is the Dennis family. Why are they so interested in Tara? If they just wanted money and power, there are plenty of other billionaire dynasties in the capital that would be much easier targets. Targeting the Dennis family—and zeroing in on Tara specifically—has nothing to do with mere wealth.

Danny has a sinking feeling that Tara, just like him, is carrying secrets they are desperate to uncover.
