The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 375

"Jade, when did you become such an expert in herb research?"

Deanna brings Jade and her sons back to the main estate for their routine monthly visit, sitting down to share a meal and chat with Eleanor. Eleanor is in high spirits today, entirely because Tara happens to be visiting as well. Feeling generous, Eleanor casually brings up the recent corporate drama and asks about Jade's sudden breakthrough.

Ever since Jade's endless string of public scandals, the older woman has practically ignored her existence. But since Jade supposedly just saved the Dennis Group from total ruin, Eleanor feels obligated to offer a polite word of acknowledgment.

"You forgot I originally majored in this field, Grandma. I was just young and naive before, dreaming of being a big star," Jade says, playing the picture of perfect humility and repentance. "I've done a lot of soul-searching lately. I realized I need to use my skills to give back to society, and more importantly, to this family."

Beneath her sweet smile, Jade is seething. During her last few visits with Deanna, she hasn't had a single chance to slip poison into the old woman's tea. It infuriates her. That bitch Kellen actually had the nerve to move back into the family estate after her divorce! With Aunt Kellen constantly hovering around, Jade can't make a move.

"Exactly. Jade has always been so grateful and well-behaved. Unlike some people who only know how to cause you grief," Alec chimes in.

"Yeah, her technical foundation is actually incredible. Give her a little time, and she'll achieve massive things," Nikolai adds.

Alec and Nikolai eat up Jade's modest act completely. In their eyes, she is the perfect, obedient sister. Nikolai, riding the high of praising Jade, turns his attention to Tara, who is leisurely sipping her tea, entirely unbothered. He puts on a self-righteous, lecturing tone.
