"I'm pursuing her," Danny admits, running a hand through his hair. "I haven't won her over yet."

Katie bursts into delighted laughter. "That's fantastic! You actually have great taste. You're completely right. If Tara is going to be my future daughter-in-law, making her a goddaughter would ruin everything."

She claps her hands together, practically buzzing with excitement. "A daughter-in-law is perfect! I love this plan."

Katie chatters away like an over-caffeinated bird, entirely thrilled by the prospect. Suddenly, she pauses, her eyes narrowing at him. "Wait a minute. You haven't won her over yet? You need to step up your game! If some other guy snatches her away, I'm disowning you."

She realizes her supposedly brilliant son is currently failing to lock down the perfect woman. What a useless kid.

Danny sighs, leaning against the counter. "You just said it yourself. Tara is exceptional. A woman like her isn't easy to win over. If you really want her in the family, you should probably help me out."

He figures having his own mother play wingman might speed up the process. A little inside support could go a long way in securing his girl.

Katie nods vigorously. "You're absolutely right. I need to get involved."

A sly smile spreads across her face. "I already have her number. I'll invite her over for dinner next weekend. What do you think?"
