The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 594

Even after Jade's sudden appointment to the company, she tries to tag along for the site inspection, only to be assigned menial tasks by Tara. Here, Tara holds the power. No matter how furious Jade feels, she bites her tongue and complies. Her mother has promised her a much more important mission in the future. Until the time is right, she just has to endure.

"I can't shake the feeling that the Dennis Group has more cultivation bases than just these. There has to be a secret facility I don't know about," Tara remarks casually as she walks through the site. While everything looks perfectly normal, her intuition is rarely wrong. As the sole monopolizing corporation at the national level, there are bound to be hidden secrets. There has to be classified, unpublicized projects somewhere.

Nathaniel frowns, thinking it over. "I don't think so. I've been with the Dennis Group for years and never heard of any secret bases or classified projects." He pauses, shaking his head. "Unless it's something only Mr. Dennis, his core inner circle, or Jake knows about. Do you really think there's more?"

Tara shakes her head. "I don't know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it, or maybe it exists, but it's buried deep." With no solid proof, they drop the subject by silent agreement. After wrapping up their routine inspection and finalizing the subsequent workflow and Tara's new formulas, they head out.

Nathaniel checks his watch. "Want to grab lunch together?" It's a normal occurrence for them to eat together while working. Tara doesn't object. She pulls out her phone to order delivery, figuring she should treat him for once since he always pays.

"We don't have too much on our plate today. Let's go out to eat," Nathaniel suggests. "I know a great restaurant nearby. Want to give it a try?" He has wanted to ask her out for a long time but never knew how. He isn't the type to invite women to lunch. If he doesn't take the initiative now, he feels he might never get another chance.

Tara looks mildly surprised. Having practically grown up with him, she knows he is usually a solitary workaholic who rarely goes out of his way for a leisurely meal. Remembering all the times he refused her money for takeout, she decides it's time to treat him to a nice dinner. "Sure, let's do it," she agrees readily.

A wave of relief and joy washes over Nathaniel. "Let's go."

They head to a nearby fusion bistro. The place serves light meals in a beautifully decorated, atmospheric setting. The exquisite plating draws a massive crowd of white-collar workers and wealthy executives. Business is booming, and getting a table usually requires a reservation or a long wait in line.
