Nathaniel is friends with the owner, so they bypass the massive waitlist and are immediately escorted to a prime, secluded table with a breathtaking ocean view.
"Impressive. I had no idea you had connections like this," Tara says, genuinely surprised. She always pictured him as a work-obsessed robot, but clearly, there is more to him.
Nathaniel chuckles wryly. "Tara, I think you might have a slight misunderstanding about me. I'm just a normal guy who likes good food." He realizes he needs to show her his personal side outside of the office if he ever wants to change her perception of him.
They share an easy laugh. The service is incredibly fast, and the beautifully presented dishes smell absolutely divine. As a dedicated foodie, Tara immediately feels her stomach rumble. "I'm digging in! It's my treat today, so don't hold back. Order more if you want."
"Sounds good," Nathaniel smiles, looking thoroughly delighted. Even though he agrees, he fully intends to sneak off and pay the bill later. As a man, he can't possibly let a woman pay on their rare lunch out together.
When a plate of boiled shrimp arrives, Nathaniel eagerly reaches for them. He knows it's one of her favorite dishes. "Don't get your hands dirty, Tara. Let me peel these for you." He efficiently snaps on a pair of disposable gloves.
"Oh, no, it's fine! I can do it myself," Tara says, rejecting the offer without a second thought.
"It's no big deal. It's faster if I just do it for both of us."
"Really, it's okay. I'm actually not craving shrimp today. You go ahead, but thank you." To avoid the awkwardness of him peeling them and her refusing to eat them, she simply claims she doesn't want any.
