Jade doesn't bother notifying Nikolai or Alec of her arrival. Instead, she bides her time, waiting until she knows her brothers and Charles are all out of the house before making her return. She uses the excuse of missing her adoptive mother and the Dennis family as her cover story, though she has no intention of actually moving back in. Slipping in while the men are gone is a calculated move—she wants to avoid any witnesses just in case things turn ugly with that foolish woman. After all, Nikolai and Alec are still somewhat useful to her. She can still manipulate them if she plays her cards right.
Stepping onto the Dennis family estate, Jade navigates the familiar courtyard with practiced ease and heads straight into the main house. The butler and the maids don't bat an eye at her arrival. Having lived there for years and holding such high status within the family, she is a permanent fixture in their minds. They simply bow their heads and respectfully greet her.
"Are my brothers and dad out?" Jade asks, keeping her tone casually sweet.
"Yes, Miss. The young masters and Mr. Dennis are all out. Only Mrs. Dennis is home," a maid replies.
"Perfect. I'll go check on Mom," Jade says, a triumphant smirk curving her lips the moment the servant turns away.
She strolls down the hallway, heading straight for Deanna's bedroom. The door isn't locked, mostly to allow the maids to come and go as they care for her. However, the staff knows better than to barge in without permission. Deanna purposely leaves the door unlocked these days, silently hoping Charles will take the initiative to walk in and see her. Taking full advantage of this, Jade turns the handle, steps inside, and immediately locks the door behind her.
Hearing the click of the latch without a polite knock, Deanna assumes her husband has finally returned. She quickly sits up in bed, her eyes lighting up with anticipation. But when she raises her gaze, she freezes. Standing before her is the woman she now despises more than anyone else in the world.
"What are you doing here? Who gave you permission to just barge into my room?" Deanna snaps, her voice trembling with hostility. The profound love and affection she once harbored for this girl has completely curdled into absolute disgust.
