Chapter 70

“Tara, I hope you enjoy the show tonight,” Jaden calls out from behind her, his voice surprisingly sincere.

Enjoy the show? What is he talking about? They aren’t even friends.

Without a backward glance, Tara hurries out of the stairwell and practically collides with a frantic Bianca.

“Oh my God! Where have you been?” Bianca grabs her arm. “I just heard Jaden was spotted near here! Fans are swarming the area!”

Tara guiltily glances back at the fire exit doors and mumbles, “I got lost looking for the restroom. Come on, didn’t we have shopping to do?”

“Right, let’s go! I found this viral burger place. We’ll eat first, then shop.” Bianca is a total foodie; no trendy restaurant escapes her radar.

They quickly find the spot and ordered two tasty burgers. By seven o’clock, they arrive at the

arena.

The venue is an absolute madhouse. Oceans of screaming fans wave glowing signs, the energy completely electric.

“Wow,” Tara murmurs, taking it all in. “He really is a superstar.”

Bianca smugly waves their tickets. “And these are VIP section passes! We’re going to be breathing the same air as him!”

They approach the VIP entrance, and Bianca excitedly hands the tickets to the bouncer.

“Excuse me, this is the VIP section. I need to see real tickets,” the security guard says with a deadpan expression.

Bianca freezes, thrusting the tickets forward again. “These are VIP tickets!”

The guard glances at them and frowns. “These are fakes. Step aside.”

“What? How is that possible?” Bianca panics. “I paid a fortune to a scalper for these!”

When she bought them, the price made her physically ill, but she bit the bullet for her idol.

The people in line start whispering, throwing judgmental and mocking looks their way. To make matters worse, Jade and her snobby friend happen to be standing just a few feet away. Spotting Tara, a sickeningly sweet smile spreads across Jade’s face.

God really does answer prayers, dropping the perfect opportunity right in her lap.

“Well, well, if it isn’t our big celebrity, Tara. Can’t even afford a real concert ticket?” Jade’s friend sneers, purposefully raising her voice as she struts over in her heels.

Chapter 70

Jade steps up beside her, a malicious smirk playing on her lips. “Tara, why are you trying to sneak in with fake tickets? You should have just told me. I could have asked Jake to get you some.”

Bianca’s face flushes a deep, angry red. “Shut up! We got scammed by a scalper!”

Jade condescendingly waves her own shiny VIP pass in the air. “That’s so tragic. Do you want me to beg the guard to let you in?” She gives Tara a pointed, nasty look. “You’re a public figure now, Tara. Causing a scene like this is incredibly embarrassing.”
