The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 738

"The only people in that house Tara gives a damn about are the old woman and Kellen," Jovani muses, her eyes narrowing as she tries to puzzle out the girl's sudden change in behavior.

She lets out a dark chuckle. "I bet she just came sniffing around for the inheritance. Or maybe she's planning to knock Jake out of the CEO chair and take over the Dennis Group herself."

Gregory's expression instantly sours at the mention of the company. He is still seething from the public humiliation of being ordered out of the funeral by a twenty-something girl.

"Whether she's looking for that item or just hungry for power, Tara cannot be allowed to take over Dennis Group. If she merges their assets with Danny's empire, it'll be catastrophic for the Sinclair family."

"Don't worry, darling. I have no intention of making her life easy," Jovani purrs. She steps closer to Gregory, tracing the lapel of his jacket, her eyes heavy with infatuation. "How is our little project coming along? Are Charles's shares and properties officially in my name yet?"

She has total faith in Gregory's ruthless efficiency. Once the paperwork clears, she will march right into the Dennis estate and the corporate headquarters as the rightful owner. She spent a decade playing the dutiful mistress to Charles. As far as she's concerned, she earned every penny of his fortune with her youth and time. Charles's death had been a brief shock, but she had moved past it quickly. She has an empire to inherit.

"Relax. Everything is handled," Gregory says, wrapping an arm around her waist. "I can't marry you officially right now, but you and Jade will never want for anything. I've secured your futures."

"You've always been the only one who truly takes care of me, Gregory," Jovani says, leaning into his chest with genuine affection—a stark contrast to the performative love she showed Charles.
