"Don't overthink it," Danny murmurs, unable to stand the deep crease between her brows. His long, elegant fingers reach out, gently smoothing the tension from her forehead. "Whatever happens, you're not alone. You have me."
Tara, usually so fiercely independent, melts into his touch, allowing herself a rare moment of vulnerability. "It's so good to have you," she whispers, her words carrying the heavy weight of absolute sincerity. Fingers laced together in a display of undeniable intimacy, they walk back toward the rest of the group. Today is about having a good time at the company retreat; she refuses to let toxic family drama ruin her mood.
Lunch at the resort is a lavish, all-you-can-eat spread. Since the company covered the premium package, the employees are free to indulge, and the atmosphere is buzzing with excitement.
"Wow, this place hasn't been open long, but the food is incredible. Definitely worth coming back to," one employee gushes.
"Absolutely! I'm bringing my parents and the kids next time," another chimes in. "I heard the hot springs are top-tier and super clean. It's a bit of a drive and totally a splurge, but it is entirely worth the money."
Listening to the endless praise, Tara knows it's genuine, not just corporate flattery. The whole point of this retreat was to boost morale and give her team a sense of belonging. Seeing it succeed so brilliantly, she instantly hands the credit over to her best friend. "You did an amazing job organizing this, Bianca. Everyone is thrilled."
"Oh, please, this is just the beginning. I can find us even better venues next time. This is my specialty," Bianca boasts, bumping her shoulder playfully against Tara's. She flashes a confident smirk and shoots a deliberate look toward Coen, who is standing a few feet away. "And next time, I'm making sure VP Traller tags along from the start."
