The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 782

"I never said you couldn't be here. Are you guys really that insecure?" Jade asks, forcing a calm smile.

Though she is seething inside, she desperately clings to the illusion of being unbothered. Her mother had drilled it into her head: to win an argument, you must project absolute superiority. Even when you're getting ripped apart, you have to look effortlessly in control. It's great advice in theory, but executing it is a completely different story.

Bianca watches Jade practically choking on her own rage while trying to act saintly, and she almost bursts out laughing at the sheer absurdity of it. Tara feels the exact same way. Every single time this woman shows up, her opening line is always the exact same predictable garbage: 'What are you doing here?'

It is so painfully unoriginal. Doesn't she have any new material? Even Tara is bored out of her mind by the repetition.

"The only insecure one here is you," Bianca scoffs, rolling her eyes. "You use the exact same intro every time you crash a party. Don't you get tired of hearing your own voice?"

Tara chuckles at her friend's flawless takedown. It is a relief to know she isn't the only one exhausted by Jade's broken-record routine.

Jade's face flushes a mottled, ugly shade of red, then drains of color entirely. She clearly hadn't expected Bianca to call out her lack of originality so bluntly. Her nails dig fiercely into her palms, but she forces her facial muscles to hold that strained, elegant smile. "I just think there's no need for us to be so hostile every time we cross paths."
