“If that's the case, don't worry, darling! I'll invite Mrs. Traller out for lunch tomorrow and get the full scoop on Coen,” her mom says, already plotting.
“Exactly. Get it set up,” her dad agrees. “Let's see if we can invite Coen over for dinner this weekend so the kids can get some proper face time.”
“Evans, you're good buddies with the guy. Bring him around the house more often. Give your sister a fighting chance!”
It is as if Mr. and Mrs. Turner have suddenly found their true calling. Filled with adrenaline at the prospect of finally marrying off their daughter, they immediately start brainstorming a battle plan.
“Hold on, tone it down,” Bianca cautions. “If you guys make it too obvious, I'm going to look totally desperate! Just arrange one official date for now. I'll handle the rest at my own pace.” She is genuinely worried their overwhelming enthusiasm might scare Coen away.
“Nonsense. How does that make you look desperate? Spending time together is how you build a connection,” her mom dismisses with a wave of her hand.
“I've always been incredibly impressed by Coen. Why didn't I think of him sooner? Haha, it's settled!” her dad declares, banging an imaginary gavel.
They completely ignore her warnings, ready to tie the two together and print the wedding invitations right now. Bianca stares at her parents, who look ready to wrap her in a bow and drop her on the Trallers' doorstep, and rubs her temples. Great. I just wanted a low-key date, and now it's turning into a full-scale family ambush. But then again, maybe a little shock and awe is exactly what she needs to finally break down Coen's walls.
