"Sure, take a seat."

Luke is about to tell them to get the hell out, but Danny beats him to the punch, cutting him off smoothly. As a good buddy, Luke knows exactly how terrible the relationship is between his best friend's woman and her brothers. Hell, everyone in their social circle knows Tara doesn't get along with the Dennis family. Since Tara is on bad terms with them, Danny naturally despises the sight of them too. Yet here he is, telling them to sit down. Luke can't figure out what kind of power play his boss is pulling. He mutters to himself but knows his buddy must have a plan, so he tactfully keeps his mouth shut, shifting over to make room for Jake, Nikolai, and Alec.

The three Dennis brothers clearly didn't expect this reaction from Danny. A flash of shock crosses their faces before they eagerly grab onto the lifeline, thanking him profusely as they take their seats. Right now, these grown men look more like grade-schoolers caught doing something wrong, awkward and unsure of what to do with their hands.

Danny's face is impassive. The cigarette between his fingertips burns slowly. Through the swirling smoke, his predatory gaze sweeps over the three of them before he speaks. "Did you need something?"

His tone is perfectly neutral, yet it carries an invisible, suffocating pressure.

As the eldest, Jake takes the lead. He clears his throat, rubbing his hands together cautiously. "Well, we came to see you because we were thinking about Tara..." He trails off, sneaking a glance at Danny's expression. Seeing no reaction, he quickly adds, "We know we treated her terribly in the past and put her through a lot. The guilt has been eating us alive. Now that our father is gone and our mother has set us straight, we've finally woken up. We want to treat her right from now on and make up for all the ways we failed her as brothers."

Jake shoots a desperate look at Nikolai and Alec.
