"Miss Dennis... are you alright?" the caregiver asks nervously, noticing the dangerous shift in Tara's expression.

Tara snaps back to reality and shakes her head. "I'm fine. Please keep a very close eye on her."

She pauses, her tone hardening. "Especially regarding her food and medication. Do not let anyone unauthorized near her."

"You have our word! We'll watch her like hawks!" the caregiver promises.

With nothing more to add, Tara and Danny turn and leave the hospital.

Instead of heading home, Tara directs Danny to a secluded location to meet someone.

"You're the one who's been texting me from the burner phones," Tara says, stepping out of the car. It isn't a question.

She looks at the familiar face standing in the shadows, her emotions tangled into a complicated knot. It is Nathaniel.

"Yeah. It's me," he admits, making no attempt to hide.

"Why are you helping me?" Tara asks, genuinely struggling to understand his angle.

Back when the Dennis Group was in chaos, Nathaniel had stood firmly beside Jovani, officially declaring himself her ally and Tara's enemy. He had openly confessed to being Jovani's highest-ranking mole within the company. Tara thought they had severed ties forever.

"I had no idea. You've sacrificed so much," Tara murmurs, a wave of respect washing over her. She used to think her father was passive and that his inner circle was useless. It turns out they were playing a high-stakes game of chess in the dark. She was the one who couldn't see the board.

"But now that you've helped me tonight, haven't you blown your cover?"
