Tara abruptly shifts the topic. "Zoey, do you get regular checkups?"

"Yes, my husband and I get annual physicals."

"You still want a baby, right? Have you had a detailed fertility check?"

"Of course," Zoey says nervously. "Did you find something wrong? I've been trying so hard, but nothing works. I wouldn't even mind being an older mother, but my egg quality is terrible."

"Your circulation is blocked, and your egg quality is indeed poor," Tara states clinically but gently. She knows patients must face their conditions head-on to overcome them. "But at your age, it shouldn't be this bad. You're showing distinct signs of premature ovarian failure."

"Julianna told me the same thing," Zoey sighs in despair. "She's been giving me treatments, but nothing works." She looks wistfully out the window, a hint of grief in her voice. "Sometimes I wonder if things would be different if I had started earlier."

Tara's mind races. Julianna nearly got Zoey killed at the birthday party; why would she kindly treat her infertility?

"Julianna is treating you?" Tara asks, narrowing her eyes. "Can I see the prescriptions?"
