The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 908

Evan bites his tongue, forcing himself to swallow the insults bubbling in his throat. He knows Bianca is Tara's best friend, and offending her would only sabotage his chances. Ignoring Bianca entirely, he shifts his gaze back to the woman he loves, his eyes swimming with rehearsed, agonizing devotion.

"Tara, I know I didn't treat you right in the past, and I know how badly I messed up," he begins, his voice dripping with forced sincerity. "I stayed away because I knew my engagement was hurting you, and I didn't want to cause you any more pain. But I formally broke things off with Jade. I'm a free man now. Please, just give me one chance to make it right. I swear I will spend the rest of my life treating you like a queen!"

Evan looks incredibly earnest, delivering the monologue he has practiced in the mirror a thousand times. He truly believes his grand romantic gesture is flawless and easily rivals anything Danny could do.

Unfortunately for him, Tara looks like she is about to throw up.

Does this man have absolutely zero self-awareness, or is his narcissism just a terminal condition? What on earth makes him think she would dump a literal billionaire kingpin to date a spineless mama's boy?

Tara doesn't bother hiding her disgust. "What exactly makes you think I'd ever choose you?"

As soon as the words leave her mouth, she feels she was entirely too polite. Beside her, Bianca looks like she is ready to flip the table.

But before Bianca can unleash a fresh wave of verbal abuse on the arrogant prick, Evan steps closer and speaks over them. "I know it's going to take time for you to forgive me, but I am entirely sincere, and I'm going to prove it to you right now."
