Chapter 91

Chapter 91

“Tara, a new equestrian club just opened on the outskirts of the city,” Keira’s voice buzzes through the phone, bright and eager. “I hear the grounds are massive. Do you want to go check it out together?”

Since moving back from abroad, Keira has been itching to get back in the saddle. The relentless barrage of advertisements for the new club is all it takes to push her over the edge. Aunt Kellen’s recovery is progressing beautifully, and she insists her daughter get out of the house and enjoy herself. Naturally, Keira’s first thought is Tara. For some reason, her cousin exudes a quiet competence that makes her feel entirely safe.

“Horseback riding?” Tara smiles, the corners of her lips turning up. “Sounds perfect. I’ve got some free time.”

Since the disastrous incident with the director, Jake hasn’t bothered to assign her any new acting gigs. Between her nonexistent D-list celebrity schedule and Danny’s rapidly improving health, her days have been surprisingly peaceful.

“Yes!” Keira cheers. “They just brought in some elite purebreds and built a professional

obstacle course!”

“I’ll come pick you up right now.” Tara hangs up and heads to her closet.

Keira is Aunt Kellen’s only child. Having grown up overseas, she possesses a refreshing, straightforward innocence. In the toxic, calculating web of the Dennis family, Keira is one of the few people Tara can actually tolerate.

An hour later, they pull up to the Green Meadows Equestrian Club. The place easily lives up to the hype, sprawling across hundreds of acres with state-of-the-art facilities. Tara parks her car, taking in the sweeping expanse of the track. A property this massive in such a prime location has to be worth hundreds of millions of dollars. She can’t help but wonder who has the capital to back such a project.

Against the backdrop of rolling green hills, a dozen magnificent horses are being put through 1 their paces by professional jockeys.

“Tara, look at that white horse!” Keira points toward the stables, practically bouncing on her heels. “It’s gorgeous. I have to ride that one.”

A man in a sharp polo shirt hurries over to greet them. “Good afternoon, ladies. I’m Miles, the club manager. You have excellent taste. That’s Snowdrift, our newly imported Dutch Warmblood. However, I must warn you, she’s got quite a temper.”

“Don’t worry about me. I was the runner-up in an amateur equestrian championship back in the States,” Keira says with easy confidence.

Tara scans the stables and points to a striking black Akhal-Teke stallion. “I’ll take Wildfire.”

With their mounts selected, the women head to the locker room. When Tara steps out of her changing stall, Keira’s jaw practically drops. She always knew her cousin was beautiful, but the riding habit takes it to an entirely new level. The impeccably tailored fabric clings to her stunning curves, emphasizing her full chest and narrow waist. The high-collared design gives her an air of untouchable elegance-sharp, sexy, and effortlessly aristocratic.

“Wow,” Keira breathes. “You look incredible.”

“You don’t look too bad yourself,” Tarà replies with a wink. “Let’s go.”
