Chapter 90
Jade’s face turns deathly pale. She trembles violently, heavy tears spilling down her cheeks as absolute panic takes over.
“No! That’s not true!” she shrieks, her voice cracking in desperation. “That recording is fake! It’s an Al voice clone! She’s always trying to frame me!”
Tara lets out a sharp, unapologetic laugh. “Fake? Do you want to send it to a professional lab for authentication right now?”
She takes a slow, menacing step closer to the bed, her gaze piercing right through Jade’s pathetic facade. “You did this to yourself, Jade. You tried to set a trap for me, but I didn’t fall for it. You were so desperate to see me violated and ruined, but your own hired thugs couldn’t even tell us apart. You got exactly what you paid for!”
Tara crosses her arms, looking down at her with pure disgust. “You are the ultimate hypocrite, playing the victim while actively trying to destroy me. It’s poetic justice. The universe is watching, and you’re finally choking on your own poison!”
“It wasn’t me! It really wasn’t me! She’s setting me up!” Jade sobs hysterically, completely breaking down.
Evan stares at Jade, his expression an unreadable storm of conflict. For the very first time, a dark seed of doubt takes root in his mind.
Jake’s voice drops to a lethal register. “I will get to the bottom of this. Personally.”
Tara casually slips her phone back into her bag. “Investigate all you want. If you decide to press charges, I’ll happily cooperate with the authorities.”
She sweeps a disdainful look over the stunned family, a mocking smirk playing on her lips. “But let me make one thing crystal clear. If you ever try something like this again, I will make you beg for death. Do not cross my bottom line. This is the last time I bother explaining myself. Next time, I shoot first.”
Without waiting for a response, she turns on her heel and heads for the door.
“Wait!” Evan calls out suddenly, his voice rough and heavy with an emotion he can’t quite place.
Tara pauses, but she doesn’t bother looking back. “Do you need something else?”
A heavy silence hangs in the air before Evan finally forces the words out. “I’m sorry. I misjudged you.”
The apology hits the room like a bomb, leaving the Dennis family entirely speechless.
Tara simply scoffs, her tone dripping with biting sarcasm. “Keep your apologies, Evan. I don’t

need them.”
She pushes the door open and walks out, leaving the suffocating hospital room behind.
Back in the ward, Jade looks like a wilted, broken flower. She reaches out, desperately clinging to Evan’s sleeve. “Evan, are you actually going to believe her? I am the victim here!”
Evan gently but firmly peels her fingers off his jacket. “Jade, you need to rest. I have some business to take care of. I’ll see you later.”
The Dennis family is too stunned to intervene.
“Alright, Evan. Thank you for everything today,” Jake says, his tone completely void of its
usual warmth.
Evan gives a curt nod, shoots one last, deeply conflicted look at Jade, and walks out of the
room.
Mr. Dennis lets out a long, heavy sigh. “Jade, you… just… don’t ever pull a stunt like this again.”
Mrs. Dennis stands awkwardly by the bed, completely at a loss for words. Remembering how viciously she just screamed at Tara, a strange, uncomfortable pang of guilt twists in her
chest.
But she quickly brushes the feeling away. She refuses to believe Jade is truly evil. Tara must have pushed her to the absolute brink for her to resort to something so desperate.
Mrs. Dennis sits down and gently rubs Jade’s back. “Mom knows. I know you’ve suffered so much today.”
Hearing the validation, Jade cries even harder, leaning into her mother’s embrace as if she carries the weight of the world’s injustice. “Mom, Dad, you have to believe me… I didn’t mean for this to happen. It was an accident. But Tara… she’s always hated me…”
No one in the room has the energy to argue anymore. They simply offer empty comforts, telling her to focus on healing.
The immediate crisis is over, but beneath her tears, Jade’s hatred for Tara mutates into something dark and venomous.
Why does Tara always win? Why does she walk away without a scratch every single time?
Jade clenches her fists beneath the pristine white hospital sheets. Next time, Tara. Next time, you won’t be so lucky.
