The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 93

Chapter 93

Out on the track, Tara is gently correcting Keira’s posture when the heavy weight of a stare prickles the back of her neck.

She turns to see a man approaching on a purebred black Arabian horse. He wears a tailored charcoal riding suit that accentuates his broad shoulders and long legs. The harsh sunlight catches the sharp, striking angles of his jawline. A faint, devastatingly handsome smirk plays on his lips as his gaze locks directly onto hers.

“What a coincidence, Tara. I didn’t know you rode,” Danny says, his voice a low, magnetic rumble.

Tara blinks in surprise before giving a polite nod. “Small world.”

Keira’s eyes go wide. She tugs frantically at Tara’s sleeve, leaning in to whisper, “Who is that? You know him? He is incredibly hot.”

Tara shoots her a warning look. “Be cool. Yes, we know each other. He’s Mr. Calhoun from the Calhoun Corporation.”

Danny chuckles softly. His eyes drop to the massive beast shifting restlessly beneath Tara. “Wildfire is notorious for throwing his riders. It takes a lot of skill to handle him. You’re impressive.”

Tara strokes the stallion’s mane. “He’s smart. He just needs a firm but patient hand.”

Before Danny can reply, a voice cuts through the tension. “Tara!”

Evan rides up, looking thoroughly stunned. He had been watching her from afar, entirely mesmerized. The word ‘fierce’ seems practically invented for her. When they were engaged, she always played the role of a docile, boring wallflower. Now, she is a completely different woman-vibrant, untamed, and blindingly radiant. It hits him with a sudden, painful jolt just how fast his heart is racing.

He pulls his horse to a stop, his eyes shining with complicated regret. “I had no idea you were such a talented rider.”

Tara’s expression goes flat. She continues to brush her fingers through Wildfire’s mane, not bothering to look at him. “There’s a lot you don’t know, Evan.”

The words slide in like a twisting knife. Evan swallows hard, his voice tightening. “Can we… talk in private?”

Danny adjusts his leather gloves with excruciating precision, his jaw tightening into a hard line, though he remains silent.

“No,” Tara says coldly. “Whatever you have to say, you can say it right here.”

Chapter

Evan glances nervously at Danny, clearly hesitating.

Right on cue, Jade trots over, practically throwing herself against Evan’s arm ‘Evan, there you are! I’ve been looking everywhere for you.”
