The Scorned Heiress's Hidden Empire (by Jade Quinn) novel Chapter 117

So they sold the bracelet Grandma gave them, and now they’re paying a premium to buy it back. What’s their game

Natalie wondered.

She didn’t ask any more questions, just nodded.

“Got it,” Natalie said.

Harper wanted to say something else, but when he met her calm gaze, he wisely kept quiet.

“Take care, boss,” someone called out as Natalie left.

Natalie gave a quiet “mm” and walked out.

Blake followed behind her, clicking his tongue in amazement. ‘I can’t believe this…

Natalie is actually the mastermind behind World–Class Auction House?‘ Blake thought, still stunned.

World–Class Auction House was one of the top three auction giants in Harbor City. Normally, an auction house wouldn’t be anything to write home about, but Natalie being the boss? Now that was something else.

Blake had always known Natalie wasn’t your average girl, but this? She was full of surprises.

Once they were in the elevator, Blake finally couldn’t hold back his curiosity.

“Wait, this auction house is yours?” he blurted out.

Natalie nodded. “Yeah, it’s mine.”

‘I set it up about eight or nine years ago, but I barely managed it after that. Honestly, it just slipped my mind over time,” she admitted.

Natalie paused, then recalled, “Oh, right, it was actually a summer assignment from the family elders back then. They told me to start a few businesses of my own.”

She said it so casually, but Blake was stunned.

Eight or nine years ago?‘ Blake was shocked.

That means Natalie was only about ten years old at the time!‘ he thought, unable to believe it.

Sure, he’d started his own business when he was young, but he always had the family’s support

But Natalie had spent nineteen years out there, had it rough, and still managed to be this amazing.

‘She must’ve had it ten times harder than anyone else, Blake thought. If she hadn’t gone missing, she would ve had everything the Mitchells could offer

Thinking about it, Blake’s heart ached for her.

“Natalie, you’ve had it so tough all these years,” he said, his voice full of concern

Natalie blinked, taken aback by his sudden concern

Was it really that tough?

Maybe it wasn’t that bad after all?

Actually, it was kind of fulfilling, she figured.

She just gave a soft, awkward “oh” in response.

As they stepped out of the elevator, they spotted Evan sitting on a couch in the lobby.

He was lounging with his legs crossed, scrolling through his phone, just about to text Natalie to ask where she was

Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed someone coming out of the elevator, and instantly spotted Natalie.

He was about to go over and say hi, but then he suddenly noticed Blake standing right next to her.

Wait, what’s he doing here?‘ Evan thought, caught off guard.

Evan felt a bit intimidated when he saw Blake, but he still went over to say hi.

‘Hey, Blake. Fancy seeing you here!” Evan said.

Blake just glanced at him. “Yeah.”

He’d heard from his younger brother that Evan was up to something with Natalie.

What a coincidence, I just got out too,” Evan said, trying to sound casual.

So, you here for something?” Blake asked, his tone a little cold.

Evan let out a couple of awkward laughs. “Well, Natalie was just here for…” He started, but Blake cut him off.

Natalie? You two close or something?” Blake interrupted, his voice a little icy.

Evan forced a laugh, feeling cornered. ‘What’s his deal? Did I do something to piss him off?‘ he wondered.

I just bid on a brooch at the auction, and it really suits Natalie, so I wanted to give it to her,” Evan explained, trying to sound casual.

At the joints, a few tiny diamonds were set, catching the light with a subtle sparkle, low–key but classy

Natalie, the moment I saw this, I knew it was meant for you! Bamboo, tough, stands tall through wind and snow, never gives in. It’s so you!” Evan said, full of admiration.
