The Scorned Heiress's Hidden Empire (by Jade Quinn) novel Chapter 190

Chapter 190

Cur the crap, just do it, Natalie said

Her tone was still flat, but Arianna picked up on the impatience like Natalie really didn’t want

Everyone was baffled by Natalie’s behavior To them, her actions made absolutely no vense

Arianna gritted her teeth, grabbed her phone, scrolled to a number, and paused for a consple woods betons

dial.

The phone rang a few times before someone picked up.

What is it?a guy’s voice said.

On the other end, there was some noise, like he was at a dinner or party.

Remi, swing by the basketball court. Someone from the cheer squad tryouts wants to see you. Arianna sairi

There was a pause on the other end. “Who?

His voice had a mix of confusion and impatience, probably because he was interrupted during dinner.

Just come over and you’ll find out,Arianna replied,

She hung up right after, not bothering to explain anything else.

Arianna lifted her chin and looked at Natalie, a bit defiant. Is that good enough for you?

But her gaze was still uneasy. She couldn’t hold Natalie’s eyes for more than a moment.

Natalie didn’t even look at Arianna. She just turned and walked over to Rosie at the sidelines.

Rosie’s eyes were still red, and her fingers nervously twisted together, her knuckles turning white.

It’s okay. Just go sit over there,Natalie said.

Rosie nodded. As long as Natalie was around, she never felt hurt, and she never had to worry about anyone messing with

her.

People around glanced at Natalie and started whispering.

Rosie plopped down in the stands and latched onto Natalie’s arm, refusing to let go.

Natalie didn’t mind at all, just crossed her legs and scrolled through her phone with one hand.

The cheer squad tryout crowd started whispering, tossing out their own guesses about what was going on

What’s she trying to pull? Calling over the basketball club president. Don’t tell me she’s about to confess or something

Are you deaf? Didn’t you hear her say she wants to play basketball?

Play basketball? Her? Against Remi? He’s the star of the varsity team, the captain of the basketball squad She’s just a physics nerd. How’s she supposed to compete with him?

Who knows, maybe she’s hiding some serious skills. Look at her. She doesn’t exactly look clueless about basketball

Does looking cool win you games? Remi’s been playing ball since he was a kid, and he’s over six feet tall. How’s a girl

supposed to beat that?

So why’d she call him over? Just wants to get noticed, right? All these campus queens are the same using their looks to g attention wherever they go.

Come on, that’s not fair. She’s just sticking up for her friend. The cheer squad captain was way out of line who says stub she better not be fat? Anyone would be mad.”

Standing up for your friend is fine, but you gotta know what you’re up against. If she loses, it’s just gonna beven mor embarrassing for both of them.

Honestly, I think Natalie’s got guts. Win or lose, just having the nerve to challenge a guy from the athletics department That takes real courage. Which one of you would dare do that?

*****

Arianna gave Natalie a lingering look, then quickly glanced away. Alright, who’s next? Come on, hurry up.

Remi showed up way faster than anyone expected. The people who’d already finished their tryouts didn’t leave. They just stayed in the stands, waiting to see what kind of drama was about to go down.

Remi wasn’t alone. He brought three guys with him. The moment they walked in, the whole gym went wild.

Remi was rocking a loose white Tshirt, black athletic shorts, and a pair of sneakers.

His skin was sunkissed, his hair a wild mess of dark brown curls. He wasn’t exactly a heartthrob, but he was easy on the eyes. just your typical jock, though he didn’t really match the cool vibe his name suggested.

But honestly, the crowd wasn’t losing it over him. It was the other three guys who had everyone going crazy.

Ryan Mitchell, Redvale University’s golden boy and the Mitchell family’s only son, was the kind of guy who turned heads wherever he went.

Today, he was rocking a black shortsleeve tee, sleeves rolled up to his shoulders, showing off his solid arms. His hair was a total mess, like a bird’s nest, but with that face, he could wear a potato sack and still look like a model.

With him were Evan Hale and Eamon Riley.

Evan was in a white basketball jersey, walking and taking bites from a halfeaten apple.

Eamon brought up the rear, wearing the same white shirt as yesterday, sleeves rolled up to his forearms, holding a bottle of water, his face totally blank, impossible to tell what he was thinking.

The four of them walked in together, looking like a boy band straight out of a manga. Their vibe was so intense. nobody dared to stare directly at them.

Holy crap, Ryan Mitchell! He’s here too!

Oh my god, Ryan! This is the first time I’ve actually seen him. He’s insanely goodlooking!

Is that Evan Hale? The freshman from the sports college? I heard he’s a total beast on the court.

And Eamon from architecture! Seriously, what’s up today? It’s like all the hotties showed up at once!

They’re all from the basketball club? Didn’t expect the whole crew to roll in together!

So Natalie’s really gonna play Remi oneonone? She’s definitely gonna lose!

I heard Natalie knows Ryan and Evan. Maybe it won’t be a total disaster for her?

Chapter 190

Come on, if Natalie gets Ryan to help her, that’s just giving up. She said she’s doing it lo

Exactly! Someone as gutsy as Natalie would never back down like that!

Totally! Guys are so overrated anyway.
