Chapter 209 Addicted To Online Games
The few girls in the class stared at Vincent with: blank faces.
None of them even played games, so how were they supposed to sign up?
Vincent adjusted his glasses, picking up on everyone’s thoughts. “Relax, we’re just putting our names down. It doesn’t matter, as long as someone signs up. We’re not aiming for any prizes.”
But even with Vincent saying that, no one responded.
The girls just stared at him, their eyes all saying the same thing: ‘That’s easy for you to say. Why don’t you do it yourself? Vincent stood at the front of the class, the sign-up sheet in his hand already crumpled with deep creases from how tightly he was holding it.
“Seriously, is no one up for this?” Vincent’s voice dropped, almost begging now.
“Just put your name down. You don’t even have to play in the tournament. If we really can’t make a team, we’ll join up with students from other classes. It’s just for show, you don’t actually have to do anything…”
One girl finally looked up from her desk, rubbing her eyes with a helpless expression.
“Vincent, it’s not that we don’t want to sign up, but we seriously have no clue how to play. We could just put our names down, but what if they actually make us go up there?”
“If the whole school is watching the livestream and I get stomped 0-10, how am I supposed to survive at Redvale University after that?”
As soon as she finished, the other girls nodded in agreement.
“Yeah, we don’t even know how to play or what the rules are. Wouldn’t that be even more embarrassing?”
Vincent ran his tongue over his lips. “Since nobody’s signing up, I’m going to have to assign people myself.”
This was his last resort. If no one volunteered, he’d have to make people do it, and that was the fastest way to make everyone mad at him. He really hated having to do this.
Vincent’s gaze drifted over to Natalie, who was lazily propping her head up with one hand, idly scrolling through her phone. He hesitated, feeling nervous. No way was he going to call on her.
He knew better than to mess with Natalie.
Vincent shifted his gaze. “Iris, aren’t you into games?”
Iris looked up, a faint, knowing smile on her face.
“Vincent, I do play a bit, but there’s no way I can carry the whole team alone.
“If that’s how it’s gonna be, I’d rather not go up and make a fool of myself.”
Vincent frowned. “Come on, Iris, just help the class out, will you?”
Iris gave him an innocent look. “Alright, I’ll do it, but only if Natalie joins me. We went to high school together.
“Natalie was always gaming in class, never paying attention to the teacher. If I could have someone who actually knows what they’re doing on my team, I’d be totally up for it.”
After she finished, Iris shot Natalie a hopeful look, waiting for her answer.
Iris had no clue if Natalie was any good at gaming, but she knew she could hold her own in a match.
With Natalie’s loud, show-off personality, Iris figured if she could actually play, she’d be the first to sign up, bragging to everyone about it.
But since Natalie was just sitting there quietly, that must mean she can’t play at all.
Honestly, that’s all Iris wanted, to see Natalie embarrass herself.
Iris was sure she could outplay Natalie and make her look bad, since she was actually pretty skilled for a casual player, even if hardly anyone knew it.
Back when her family’s company teamed up with some esports stars, Iris pulled all-nighters practicing non-stop before the public event, just so she wouldn’t embarrass herself in front of everyone.
She trained until dawn, her fingertips rough from hours of tapping on the screen, and she’d watch match replays until the
sun was up.
Her skills came from relentless practice. She’d put in the work, so she had every right to feel confident.

To her, even if Natalie could play, she was just some casual
Natalin could be better than her
Last season, ins had made it into the top 100 on the national server on this was the perfor account to everyone
“Come on, Natalie, just go for it, it’s not like you’re busy or anything a girl
She didn’t speak loudly, but everyone in the classroom heard her
She was Iris’s roommate, usually sticking close to her, and now she was stepping up to back
“Yeah, it’s way better to have two people than just one
“Plus, Iris said you actually know how to play. None of us have a clue how to play
“Vincent said we just need to put our names down, not actually play. Just do us a favor, will you?”
The girls all started hyping Natalie up, pushing her to agree, so they wouldn’t have to worry about getting called themselves.
Iris gave Natalie a triumphant look, knowing she had her trapped. At this point, Natalie redly had no way out Natalie finally seemed to notice everyone staring at her. She sat up, flipped Mes hair back, and took off her “What’s up?” she asked.
Who knew if she actually hadn’t heard, or was just playing dumb.
Everyone was confused.
Iris’s smile stiffened for a moment.
She’d spent all that time inviting Natalie, dropping hints, and trying to corner her, only to find out Natale had her headphones on and didn’t catch a single thing. Seriously?
Iris bit back her frustration and shot back with a snarky tone, “Natalie, is your headset blasting at max volume or what? “We were making all that noise and you still didn’t hear us? You only took your headphones off after we finished. Anyone would think you were just trying to avoid the whole thing,” Iris said, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
The others exchanged uneasy glances at Iris’s passive-aggressive remark, but one of them tried to soften things up and explained again.
“Natalie, for the school’s esports event, each class needs three girls to sign up. We’re all pretty clueless when it comes to games, but Iris said you like gaming, so we wanted to ask if you’d be willing to join.”
Natalie listened, a small smirk appearing as she understood what was going on.
“I already signed up,” she said.
Vincent had posted the sign-up sheet again in the class group chat earlier, and since none of the girls had signed up, she just put her name down.
It was no big deal, just an event, all from the same class. If nobody else wanted to do it, she just signed up berself
As soon as Natalie finished speaking, Vincent glanced down at his phone. Sure enough, the sign-up sheet in the group chat had just been updated three minutes ago.
