Chapter 243
Natalie was unfazed by his expression, just candy waiting for the match to kick off.
She checked her watch, ten minutes to go before the match started.
Nearby, a crowd of cameras and reporters were already in position, all set to go live and cover the event as soon as it began
Natalie pushed herself up from her seat, walked over to the table in the back grabbed a bottle of water, twisted off the cap and took a couple of big gulps.
Eliott just sat there quietly, occasionally glancing over at Natalie.
When Natalie sat back down, he looked up and met her gaze without hesitation.
His lips curled into a faint smile, but it didn’t reach his eyes.
Natalie just gave him a lazy glance and didn’t bother to respond.
Eliott watched her, his smile fading a bit. “I heard you didn’t have a rank before. Is this your first time showing up for a ournament?”
Natalie leaned back in her chair, her legs casually crossed, looking totally relaxed and didn’t even bother to look at him.
Yeah, Natalie replied.
Eliott shrugged. “Looks like luck’s been on your side. Haven’t run into any decent opponents yet, have you?”
He said it as casually as if he were talking about the weather, but everyone could hear the sarcasm in his words.
Natalie flicked a bit of lint off her black clothes without a care/”It’s alright.”
Eliott’s smile froze for a moment.
He’d expected her to get annoyed or snap back, but he hadn’t thought she’d just shrug him off like that.
Ha, just like my sister said. She’s so full of herself, doesn’t give a damn about anyone else, Eliott thought.
He clenched his fingers on his knee, then let go. He took a deep breath, pushed down his irritation, and forces a smile.
‘You’d better be careful today. I’m not an easy opponent,” Eliott said.
His gaze lingered on her face for a moment, then dropped to the competition badge in front of her. He raised an eyebrow
“Natalie? So your name’s Natalie?” Eliott said.
