There were macarons shaped like flowers, tiramisu cubes dusted with gold leaf, crystal.clear jellies, and cupcake bites in adorable shapes. Every piece showed care and effort, looking good enough to eat.

“You know how to make desserts?” Natalie sat down at the table and picked up a pink macaron, taking a small bite.

It was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, with just the right amount of sweetness and a faint rose fragrance. It was really good, with a light texture that lacked the cloying heaviness of ordinary sweets.

Ethan sat across from her, took off his apron, and pushed up his glasses, a gentle smile on his face. “Back when I was studying abroad, I was under a lot of pressure, so I learned to bake as a way to unwind.”

He paused for a moment, looking at Natalie. “Do you like them? If you do, I can make them for you anytime you want.”

Natalie tried a piece of tiramisu next. The slight bitterness of the coffee blended perfectly with the rich creaminess of the cheese, again without being overly sweet.

She nodded, giving an honest compliment. “They’re delicious. You’re really skilled.”

At Natalie’s praise, the warmth in Ethan’s eyes deepened. Even his usually serious features softened noticeably. “I’m glad yo ike them. Tell me whatever you want in the future. I know a bit about many cuisines and desserts.”

Natalie glanced at Ryan, who was curled up on the couch, unusually quiet, staring intently at his phone.

Ethan followed her gaze. “When he’s like this, he’s probably reading a novel.”

Ryan reads novels?” Natalie asked.

Ethan answered, “He likes mysteries and thrillers, especially the one named Daybreak.

‘I wasn’t really into novels before, but this one is really well written. It’s got tight logic, an interconnected plot and solid character development. I’m not really a novel person, but I’m still following the updates.”

Ethan picked up his own phone. “From the look on Ryan’s face, Bluebell must have posted new chapters today Natalie enjoy your desserts.”

With that, he went over to the couch and sat down, starting to read the new chapters.

Ryan was completely absorbed in his reading, muttering to himself, “So, he’s the killer I knew that detail carlier was suspicious. Damn. I really didn’t see that twist coming. No way I’m blown away.”

Natalie kept a straight face and continued eating her dessert

Charlotte came over with a plate of cut fruit and sat down next to Natalie “Natalie. I made an appomument for you with a designer tomorrow morning. He’ll come to the house to take your measurements for the welcome party gown

“What style do you like? Do you prefer evening gowns or something else?”

Anything is fine, Mom. You decide, Natalie said She wasn’t picky about these things

“Alright. Then I’ll arrange it We’ll do one of each Charlotte was full of confidence, already picraping in her mind how her daughter would look in all kinds of beautiful dresses

The place was quiet, with top notch facilities, a membership system, and great privacy. Most of the clientele were business people or sports enthusiasts.

Ethan was a regular there. After they changed into their sportswear and walked into the court with their rackets, they immediately drew a lot of attention

Ethan, of course, was tall and handsome, already eye catching on his own. But Natalie, walking beside him, was even harder

to look away from.

She wore a simple white short sleeve sports top and black athletic shorts, revealing her slender, perfectly toned legs

Natalie’s hair was tied up in a high ponytail, her face completely bare of makeup, yet her skin was flawless, and her features were strikingly beautiful.

They reached Ethan’s private court, warmed up for a bit, and then started playing.

Ethan wasn’t sure how good Natalie was, so he held back quite a bit. Natalie slowly matched his pace. They played with such patience that the people watching from the side nearly fell asleep.

Those onlookers all thought, I thought the girl Mr. Mitchell brought would be really skilled. Turns out she might be a total beginner. She’s pretty and has a great aura, though. Maybe Mr. Mitchell’s into her.

But they didn’t dare say anything out loud. After all, they didn’t have the nerve to joke about Ethan.

On the next court over, a woman in a blue sports top and athletic skirt hadn’t taken her eyes off Natalie since she walked in Her gaze was full of judgment, jealousy, and a hint of hostility.
