Chris narrowed his eyes slightly. She had spotted him.

But before he could even reach the building entrance, Zion stepped in front of the glass doors with several men

behind him.

“Mr. Xander, Ms. Scott is already asleep. If you need something, come back during the day.”

Chris flicked the extinguished cigarette into the trash and looked at him with cold indifference. He gave a quiet scoff. “So I can see her during the day?”

Zion paused, then said sternly, “No.”

The chill at Chris’s mouth sharpened. “Then what exactly are you wasting time talking for? If you’re going to make a move, do it.”

“Mr. Xander, William made it clear. If you keep bothering Ms. Scott, your deal is off. Are you really that confident you can still protect Skyla?”

“William isn’t upstairs?” Chris didn’t even bother responding to the rest.

Zion cursed inwardly. Was this man really so sure he could protect Skyla no matter what?

Still, Chris was right. William wasn’t upstairs.

Winter had been down all day, and William had only left after she finally fell asleep. He had gone back to the family home to deal with some trouble. The remnants of his uncle’s old faction had started causing problems again.

Chris who had just been questioning him now walked straight toward him. More precisely, he walked straight toward the building doors.

“Mr. Xander, sorry about this,” Zion said, his expression darkening as he moved to block him without another word.

But in the very next second, several black cars pulled into the complex.

The doors opened.

And the moment Zion saw Gavin step out, his scalp prickled.

Why did it have to be this guy again?

A scuffle broke out behind him.

Chris walked into the building with his usual cold composure, took the elevator up, and stopped at the apartment door. He entered the code with one hand.

Wrong passcode.

His fingers paused.

They had changed the code again.

Inside, Winter heard the error tone from the keypad, and her heart dropped.

She had not been mistaken. That car downstairs really had been Chris’s.
